At a Glance

Carved from ice at the top of the world, the northern Atlantic islands are wonders of geology, ecology and human history. Navigate Scotland’s craggy coastline, remote and wind-swept islands and Iceland’s stunning ports by rugged expedition ship. Be one of the lucky few to learn about lands that chart their history through Norse sagas and ancient ruins. The ports of call offer special access to the 4,000 year-old archaeological treasures and volcanic plateaus, providing glimpses of prehistoric lifestyles still practiced, remnants of far-flung outposts and some of the best wildlife viewing in all of Europe.
Activity Level
Keep the Pace
Walking up to two miles per day over hilly, rocky, uneven terrain. Climbing stairs between decks on board as well as external gangway stairs to transfer between the ship and Zodiacs. Most embarkations and disembarkations will be via Zodiac, which require stepping up or down about 12 inches. Zodiac landings will generally entail disembarking onto rocky or gravelly beaches, and in windy weather can make for rather splashy rides.

Best of all, you'll ...

  • Venture to the ancient village of Skara Brae where the standing stones at Stenness and Brogdar reveal a palpable prehistoric presence.
  • Hike along the Faroe Islands’ most spectacular coastlines and climb waterfalls, towering cliffs, and picturesque sea stacks.
  • Enhance your knowledge with unique access to Adventure Canada’s seasoned onboard staff.

General Notes

The itinerary is subject to change based on weather conditions. The program is limited to 24 participants and the Ocean Endeavour holds 198 passengers.
