Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont is a residential environmental learning center whose mission is to deliver experiential learning for youth, adults, and educators through programs that promote self-discovery, critical thinking, and effective teaching. Our location inside Great Smoky Mountains National Park grants us access to more than 850 miles of hiking trails. Accommodations are rustic, and include dormitories, a dining hall, classrooms, outdoor meeting spaces, book store and library. The dormitory consists of four separate heated and air-conditioned open dormitories with bunk beds with separate sections for men and women. Each dormitory has its own shared bathroom with private showers and bathroom stalls. Private accommodations are not available on site. Meals are hearty and served family style in the dining hall. Parking is free. Please note that Wifi is available on site, but sometimes undependable. Cell reception on campus is virtually nonexistent. The campus is non-smoking.
