Shirley Spencer has lived and work in the Sierra Nevada since 1979, and taught at the Yosemite Institute since 1986. She also instructs at other locations including Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, Canyonland and Arches National Parks. An avid hiker, backpacker, skier, scuba diver and mountaineer, Shirley teaches rock climbing with husband Mark. She is also an accomplished watercolor painter, vocalist, guitarist and organic farmer.
