The Jekyll Island Resort is a historical landmark and really quite charming. Our group leader, Linda, was very organized and a lot of fun. The food was quite good. The weather was great. However, golf was a bit disappointing. We were suppose to be playing on 3 different golf courses, but one was closed. We were suppose to have 3 golf instructors, but there were only 2. One of the instructors was knowledgeable and helpful. There were definitely not enough quality instructors for our large group. Also disappointing was the cancelation of the musical entertainment on the final evening.

Positives: Thank you for honoring the "we'll make it right" statement when I was roomed with a person who snores and my single room was paid for. This shows me that RS is a reputable company that cares about its participants. I enjoyed meeting very nice people; lovely hotel/resort; healthy food; personable and fun Group Leader, Linda. Negatives: Written up as golf Instruction with three golf pro instructors (Scott Turner??? no such person there). Three 18-hole golf courses expected, but one golf course was closed. Doug, one of two instructors, was adequate with verbal instructions. No individual analysis other than "That was a good shot." Adam was an inexperienced instructor and clearly not a golf pro. He had to be asked questions to address golf issues, did no analysis, and essentially showed us his golf shots, which was lovely but did not improve my golf game. No video analysis, as I was led to expect, but instead a machine used to assess your swing and give statistics such as distance, swing speed, ball path. Not helpful or instructional feedback. No full swing instruction. No reading greens information. No driver or fairway woods instruction unless I asked a direct question. The biggest surprise was I expected some individual instruction, one-on-one, and that did not happen unless I asked for help. I was extremely disappointed in the golf program. I basically live in a resort community, and I was not there for the resort amenities. I was there to improve my golf game. I wrote down a few pointers. I was hoping for much more. Musician was billed for last night after-dinner program. There was no musician. This is my first Road Scholar trip. I'm sure the trips vary in terms of individual satisfaction. I would not rule out another Road Scholar vacation based on this one experience. I would very much like to know what happened to have such a drastically different outcome from the write-up for this trip. Thank you.

Dear Debbie, We are sorry for your disappoint. Unfortunately, the musician that was planned for the last evening canceled at the last minute due to illness. Also, please know that we are working with the golf center to implement improvements around instructors and closures to provide a better experience. We pride ourselves on offering educational adventures of the highest quality, and when we don’t meet those expectations it’s important that we make it up to our participants. We have reached out to everyone that attended your program departure to provide further details. We are glad to hear you are willing to give us another try and look forward to seeing where your next adventure takes you. Sincerely, Road Scholar

Program was great. I would recommend taking the later program in April or May when the courses will be in better condition and the no-see-em bugs may not be as prevalent. We were told they are not a problem unless the sun is out and it's not windy. Of course that's when you want to be playing golf.

What a fun time improving my golf game! The accommodations were amazing and the instruction was fabulous. The golf pros really know how to quickly give you tips that will help your game.

This program was just right for me and my husband. He has played golf for 60 yrs. I am still a novice. I was never uncomfortable with any of the participants or instructors as far as my level of play. Every participant was encouraged by the others and was accepted at their own golf skill level.

The trip was great! Linda and the golf pros did an excellent job. I learned a lot from them. The people in the group were fantastic. I was disappointed in the hotel. Although the staff were friendly and helpful, I don't think the food was all that great. Our room was never cleaned. I understand about COVID, but if no one is going to clean the room, please provide larger garbage cans. The internet on the island is horrible. Other than the hotel, it was a great trip!

Jekyll Island Golf was fun and instructive. However, find out if having your own car would be a benefit. Hotel shuttle service was more limited than when I went in 2020, so I didn't get to see as much of the island as I had hoped.

The golf instruction was clear, concise, valuable, and not overwhelming. All levels of instruction were considered and some attendees came back for a second time, this time taking their game to the next level. I am excited about taking concepts I learned on Jekyll Island to the golf courses at home. I honestly believe that this golf instruction is better than anything I have had before. The plan they use of golf instruction in the morning followed by tee times set for us for golf on their three courses in the afternoon worked well so we could immediately implement what we learned. Everyone we encountered were customer-oriented, friendly, and welcoming.

This program is helpful to get a head start on your golf game for the Spring. Review the fundamentals, learn new things, and compare your skills to your peers. Glad I picked this program and I'm thinking of participating again.

Wonderful setting for golf, but so much more! The history of the Jekyll Island Club Resort is fascinating. The accommodations are superb. The wildlife on the island is very interesting.
