Explore the unparalleled beauty of two regions on opposite sides of the Alps: the Tyrol in Austria and the South Tyrol in Italy. Unearth similarities and contrasts in their culture, history, environment and architecture as you immerse yourself in the splendid beauty of the Dolomite mountain valley and gain appreciation for these two varied and unique cultures.

Hiking 4-10 miles daily on varied terrain; mountains, small trails that are mainly gravel and dirt, fields and meadows that have small stones. Sturdy walking/hiking shoes are required. Elevations up to 7,286 feet.

Nacho Engel is a professional certified walking instructor who has been leading explorations in Scandinavia, Spain, and Portugal for 25 years. During that time, he spent four years living in Finnish Lapland, where he worked as a wilderness guide. Fluent in both Spanish and English, Nacho has also led explorations on the Camino de Santiago — the pilgrimage route across northern Spain — for 12 years now. He holds a degree in civil engineering from the Universidad Politecnica de Madrid, and he continues to make his home in Spain.

Jane Katherein was born in Innsbruck. She studied geography and atmospheric sciences in Innsbruck and Aberdeen, which she completed with a master's degree in 2006. She also completed her training as an editor at the Austrian Media Academy in Salzburg. After working as a journalist and in corporate publishing, she dedicated herself to become a yoga teacher. She started to teach environmental and nature education, and walking into nature with families and children. Training as a wilderness educator, herbalist, and Tyrolean mountain hiking expert followed.
