At a Glance

From its introduction in 1839, photography has transformed the ways in which we see the world. Photographs capture events and also transform them. They depict reality but also tell a story. Join Louis Masur, distinguished author and professor, for a captivating exploration into how photography has revolutionized our perception of the world. Discover the profound impact of iconic images like Dorothea Lange’s "Migrant Mother" and Joe Rosenthal’s "Flag Raising on Mt. Suribachi," alongside lesser-known photographs that have equally shaped American society and culture. Through Professor Masur's expert analysis, gain a deeper understanding of the stories these photographs tell and their lasting influence on American history. This lecture offers an insightful analysis on the power of photography to document, define and transform the American narrative.
