At a Glance

Join us this Manatee Awareness Month for an intriguing dive into the world of these gentle marine giants. Jason Robertshaw, program manager for Virtual Learning at Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium, will guide us through over 25 years of crucial manatee research. Using innovative tools like planes, drones and hydrophones, Mote scientists are not only listening to the manatees' sirenian songs, but also uncovering their hidden relationships with their surroundings. This is a pivotal time for manatees. They face mounting challenges from seagrass depletion, harmful algal blooms and increasing human activity. Explore how Mote's dedicated work in research, rescue and rehabilitation is making a difference for this iconic Florida species. Whether you're an aspiring marine biologist, an ocean lover or someone keen to learn about wildlife conservation, this lecture will captivate your imagination and inspire action.
