The First World War marked the true dawn of submarine warfare and introduced the Allies to the dreaded German “Unterseeboot” (U-boat). Join Dr. Spencer Jones, Senior Lecturer in Armed Forces and War Studies at the University of Wolverhampton, as he discusses Germany’s strategy to use these sophisticated maritime predators to attempt to win the “Great War.” This first lecture of this two-part series will take you through the historical events of the war beneath the waves from 1914 through 1918.
