At a Glance

In just two years, 1977-78, San Francisco Supervisor Harvey Milk inspired and transformed the lives of gays and lesbians in America and the world. Milk was a former navy lieutenant and camera store owner who found his heart in San Francisco during the transformative 1960s. As the nation's first openly gay politician, his meteoric rise was cut short by horrific dual assassinations. Road Scholar's principal San Francisco lecturer, James Dalessandro, was present for the inspiring and turbulent events, and delivers another of his powerful lectures.
