Afternoon: Welcome and Orientation. Tour Adirondack Mountain Club’s Adirondak Loj and the Heart Lake Program Center property, and get an overview of the week's activities.

Dinner: Dinner at 6:15 p.m. in Adirondack Mountain Club’s Adirondak Loj. Instructor will dine with participants and share local insight into what life is like in the Adirondacks

Evening: 8:00pm The evening entertainment is a presentation on the History of the Adirondack

Hike the Jay Range
Lake Placid, New York

Breakfast: Breakfast served from 7:15 - 8:15 a.m. Warm up for the day with a stretching session by Heart Lake before departing.

Morning: 8:30am Transport to the Jay Range trailhead by van. Hike to and along the spectacular ridge of the Jay Range beginning in mixed forests and ending at a magnificent overlook of the surrounding region including the High Peaks of the Adirondacks, Vermont's Green Mountains and Lake Champlain.

Lunch: Pack-out bag lunch along our route.

Afternoon: Return via the same route to the trailhead and transport by van to Adirondak Loj.

Dinner: Dinner at 6:15 p.m. at Adirondak Loj. Instructor will dine with participants and share local insight into what life is like in the Adirondacks

Evening: 8:00pm The evening entertainment is a presentation on "The Alpine Zone: New York’s Rarest Ecosystem"

Paddling Middle & Lower Saranac Lake

Breakfast: Breakfast served from 7:15 - 8:15 a.m. Warm up for the day with a stretching session by Heart Lake before departing.

Morning: 8:30am Today, we'll canoe through a portion of the Saranac Lake river system, which is part of the Northern Forest Canoe Trail - a resurrected 740-mile ancient route running from Old Forge, NY to Port Kent, Maine. Today's itinerary offers a variety of water bodies - creeks, rivers, ponds and lakes. We'll begin at South Creek, and paddle through Middle Saranac Lake and Weller Pond. The pace will be moderate with about 6-7 hours on the water, including breaks and lunch.

Lunch: As we pass back through Middle Saranac Lake, we'll stop for a pack-out bag lunch at a beautiful natural beach accessible only by boat or on foot.

Afternoon: Continuing on, we'll pass through a section of river and an old set of hand-operated locks, which then leads us to island studded Lower Saranac Lake. Today's distance will amount to about 10 miles.

Dinner: Dinner at 6:15 p.m. at Adirondak Loj. Instructor will dine with participants and share local insight into what life is like in the Adirondacks

Evening: 8:00pm The evening entertainment is a presentation on "The Northern Forest Canoe Trail"

Mountain Biking at Henry's Woods and Heaven Hill

Breakfast: Breakfast served from 7:15 - 8:15 a.m. Warm up for the day with a stretching session by Heart Lake before departing.

Morning: 8:30am Travel to the High Peaks Cyclery to learn about the evolution of mountain biking in the Adirondacks, to be fitted to an appropriate mountain bike, and to practice the basics at the Olympic Oval in downtown Lake Placid. We will ride through town and arrive at Henry's Woods with opportunities to ride wide trails and single track trails that were constructed by the Adirondack Mountain Club.

Lunch: Pack-out bag lunch along our route.

Afternoon: Our afternoon will be spent at the Heaven Hill trails, which are much wider and more gradual, providing opportunities to bike approximately 12 miles total for the day (or less if you want to save your energy). The mountain bike instructors can help you achieve the biking experience you're hoping for.

Dinner: Local Farm to Table Dinner at 6:15 p.m. at Adirondak Loj. Instructor will dine with participants and share local insight into what life is like in the Adirondacks

Evening: 8:00pm The evening entertainment presentation on "Adirondack Flora & Fauna"

Paddle St. Regis Canoe Area then Hike at the VIC

Breakfast: Breakfast served from 7:15 - 8:15 a.m. Warm up for the day with a stretching session by Heart Lake before departing.

Morning: 8:30am Depart by van for our visit to the St. Regis Canoe Area, the only designated canoe area in New York State. We will paddle the Saint Regis River into Lower Saint Regis Lake, and enter a meandering stream teeming with wildlife, pitcher plants, and orchids. Our 5-mile paddle will include a stop at a beautiful Adirondack Lean-to on a picturesque peninsula.

Lunch: Pack-out bag lunch along route.

Afternoon: At Black Pond, we’ll swap paddling shoes for hiking boots and encircle a beautiful Adirondack water body with views of Saint Regis and Jenkins Mountains. Loon sightings and beaver activity can be experienced during this 2-mile hike. Our pace throughout the day will be moderate with plenty of time for stops and picture taking. On our way back to the Loj, we'll be sure to stop for some ice cream!

Dinner: Dinner at 6:15 p.m. Enjoy your evening relaxing by Heart Lake or exploring Lake Placid.

Visit John Brown's Farm, Tour Olympic Ski Jumping Complex

Breakfast: Breakfast served from 7:15 - 8:15 a.m.

Morning: Explore the historic gravesite and farm of famed abolitionist John Brown. Using the trails at John Brown’s Farm, we’ll access the Mackenzie-Intervale Olympic Ski Jumping Complex and tour the facility. Following an elevator ride to the observation deck of the 26-story tall, 120 meter ski jump we’ll take in outstanding views of the mountainous landscape surrounding the Village of Lake Placid as well as what athletes see from the start pad as they prepare to jump

Lunch: A sit-down luncheon is included at the Adirondack Loj. Program ends after lunch.
