He has authored 16 books on the outdoors, including five on the Appalachian Trail, and has served on the Roanoke Appalachian Trail Club’s board of directors and as a Natural Heritage Monitor and ridgerunner for the Appalachian Trail Conservancy. He has been sharing his knowledge with Road Scholar for more than 10 years.
