Afternoon: CHECK-IN: Check-in is available from 4:00 p.m. PROGRAM REGISTRATION: After you have your room assignment, come over to the Road Scholar table to register with the program staff and get your welcome packet containing your name-tag, up-to-date schedule that reflects any last-minute changes, and other important information. If you arrive late, please ask for your packet when you check in. At 5:00 p.m. meet the program staff and your fellow participants at Orientation followed by a short tour of the Shawnee Inn campus. ORIENTATION: At 5 p.m., the Group Leader will greet everyone and lead introductions. We will review the program theme, the up-to-date Daily Schedule and any changes, discuss safety guidelines, emergency procedures, roles and responsibilities, and answer any questions you may have.

Dinner: At 6 p.m. we'll enjoy dinner at the Inn, where you'll have the opportunity to choose from a healthy buffet offering choices of salads and entrées (one of which will be vegetarian), plus vegetables, rice, potatoes, or pasta, fresh fruit, and coffee, tea (iced or hot), water; other beverages available for purchase.

Evening: After dinner we'll have an introductory class on camera equipment and photo techniques with our expert photographer for the week, Len Rue. Learn all about Len and see samples of his published works at rueimages.com

Photo Field Trip, Picnic, Technique Class, History Lecture

Activity note: Our photography excursion will include a 1 to 2 mile trek. Expect to walk 1 mile on even, flat terrain. You may choose to go up or down steps to get a closer look at the falls.

Breakfast: Breakfast will be in the Inn’s River Room restaurant. Enjoy your choice of hot and/or cold breakfast selections from fruit to home-made granola, pancakes or French toast, a variety of breakfast meats, an omelet station, and more. In good weather, you may choose to dine on the veranda.

Morning: The photo field trip will take us to Childs Park to learn to photograph beautiful waterfalls with our pro. The park was developed by philanthropist George W. Childs, who was attracted to the area by its natural beauty and wildlife. After purchasing the land in 1892 he developed a public park because he believed everyone, not just wealthy landowners, should be able to experience and appreciate being outdoors. The park was designed to highlight and enhance the natural and man-made amenities of the DWG.

Lunch: We will enjoy lunch at the Inn

Afternoon: This afternoon you will attend a Photo Technique Class on Exposure led by Len Rue in a classroom setting at the Inn. Understanding and mastering exposure is essential to taking great images.

Dinner: We'll enjoy dinner at the Inn, where you'll have the opportunity to choose from a healthy buffet offering choices of salads and entrées (one of which will be vegetarian), plus vegetables, rice, potatoes, or pasta, fresh fruit, and coffee, tea (iced or hot), water; other beverages available for purchase.

Evening: After dinner we'll enjoy an evening presentation about the local history featuring over 300 slides called River's Edge!

Photo Field Trip, Photo Workshop, Riverside Concert

Activity note: Our field trip will have us walking about 2 miles over mostly flat and even terrain.

Breakfast: Start the day with a River Room buffet breakfast.

Morning: Today's field trip will begin with a photo shoot at Sunfish Falls, located in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. We will then visit Millbrook Village, a historical farming site. We will learn to use the techniques taught by our world-class photography instructor at both of these locations.

Lunch: We will enjoy lunch at the Inn

Afternoon: We will return to the classroom for our photography workshop. There we will learn how to enhance our digital photography with the latest technology and learn important skills in design and composition for landscape photography.

Dinner: We'll enjoy dinner at the Inn, where you'll have the opportunity to choose from a healthy buffet offering choices of salads and entrées (one of which will be vegetarian), plus vegetables, rice, potatoes, or pasta, fresh fruit, and coffee, tea (iced or hot), water; other beverages available for purchase.

Evening: After dinner we'll enjoy a delightful riverside concert on the grand lawn of the historical Inn.

Breakfast: Breakfast will be in the Inn's River Room Restaurant. Enjoy your choice of hot and/or cold breakfast selections from fruit to home-made granola, pancakes or French toast, a variety of breakfast meats, an omelet station, and more. In good weather, you may choose to dine on the veranda.

Morning: Today we will experience the amazing sights and tranquil sounds of Columcile, where we will embark on our third photo fieldtrip. We will then visit the Delaware Water Gap for more instructional photography. While on the photo shoot with our expert learning new skills to capture every moment.

Lunch: Lunch on your own provides an opportunity to experience one of the many local restaurants. Free time activities will be suggested.

Afternoon: Free Afternoon. Take this opportunity for personal independent exploration to see and do what interests you most. Please refer to the list of Free Time Opportunities. The Group Leader will be happy to offer suggestions and give directions.

Dinner: We'll enjoy dinner at the Inn, where you'll have the opportunity to choose from a buffet offering healthy choices of salads and entrees (one of which will be vegetarian), plus vegetables, rice, potatoes or pasta, fresh fruit, coffee, tea and water. Other beverages will be available for purchase at the Bar.

Evening: The evening lecture will be a with a Ranger from the National Park Service.

Waterfall Photo Shoot, Lecture, Dinner and Critique

Activity note: Today's photo field trip will involve walking over mostly even and flat terrain in a woodland forest-like setting.

Breakfast: Breakfast will be in the Inn's River Room Restaurant. Enjoy your choice of hot and/or cold breakfast selections from fruit to home-made granola, pancakes or French toast, a variety of breakfast meats, an omelet station, and more. In good weather, you may choose to dine on the veranda.

Morning: This morning we'll journey to beautiful Silver Thread Falls and Dingmans Falls to photograph the breathtaking landscapes and Pennsylvania waterfalls.

Lunch: Our picnic lunch will be offered in a rustic and tranquil woodland area.

Afternoon: Today we will focus on the techniques and equipment needed for taking close-up/Macro Photography.

Dinner: Tonight's farewell dinner will offer us a special menu with freshly prepared local food, salad, bread and soft drink. Craft beer is on tap, which is Shawnee's own organic brew, as well as wine and other drinks for purchase at the bar.

Evening: This evening's class will be a critique session with Len Rue, Jr. Please make sure you bring a USB/Flash drive to put the image on that you would like to have critiqued.
