Green Lake Conference Center

Breakfast: Buffet style breakfast is served in the dining room.

Morning: After morning announcements, your instructors will present an overview of the week, after which students will be divided into small groups for discussion and writing exercises. The theme of the week is "Home." Home is where you hang your hat, where they have to let you in, and where the deer and the antelopes play. They say you can't go home again, but Dorothy clicks her ruby slippers three times. There are homes for orphans, unwed mothers, and old soldiers. Dress up fancy for the homecoming dance. Have some home cookin'. Do some home repairs, and show home movies. Retirees and snails keep mobile homes. Home is where you face the toughest pitches, and score when you hit a homerun. You can run away from home, be homeless, and be homesick. Road Scholar writers will hold the gem of "home" in their hand, turn it slowly in the light, and see their reflection and inspiration in each of its facets. The week is organized for maximum interaction with other students and instructors. Instructors will provide you with examples of poetry, non fiction and fiction to read and analyze, along with in-class writing exercises to spark your creativity. At the end of the morning class, instructors will present the daily assignment for you to complete overnight.

Lunch: Buffet style lunch is served in the dining room.

Afternoon: Afternoons will offer several options. You may schedule a one-on-one writing conference with an instructor, dig into the day's assignment, or take a walk on the beautiful shore and wooded paths of Green Lake Conference Center. Don't miss the gift shop located next to Pillsbury Hall.
