We will cycle approximately 20 miles at 10-15mph throughout the day. During the afternoon there will be a swamp walk. Please wear: water resistant long pants, hat, old tennis shoes or closed toed water shoes. You will be returning to the hotel after the walk. You will get wet!
Our breakfast at the Inn offers a selection of hot and cold items including fresh fruit plus coffee and tea.
Our cycling adventure begins at Fakahatchee Strand Swamp Preserve, determined to be the largest linear swamp of it’s kind in this hemisphere. Frequently called “The Amazon of North America,” Fakahatchee hosts a wide array of habitats and forest types from the wetter swamps and prairies to the drier islands of tropical hardwood hammocks and pine rock lands. Sculpted by the movement of water for thousands of years, clean fresh water is the key to its existence. Our route will take us through several distinct habitats showing a diversity of plant and wildlife. We may even catch a rare glimpse of the Florida Panther.
