Activity note: Hotel check-in available from 12:00 Noon. Driving to the hotel approximately 67 miles; about 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Afternoon: After arriving at the hotel, check in and get your room, then take some time to unpack, freshen up, and relax. Orientation: The Group Leader will greet everyone and lead introductions. We will review the program theme, the up-to-date Daily Schedule and any changes, discuss safety guidelines, emergency procedures, roles and responsibilities, and answer any questions you may have. Indicated times are approximate. Program activities, schedules, and personnel may need to change due to local circumstances. In the event of changes, we will alert you as quickly as possible. All activities will be led by the Group Leader unless specified otherwise. Thank you for your understanding. We have set aside some free time in the schedule for your personal independent exploration. The Group Leader will often be available during free time to accompany informal excursions, activities, or meals that have been excluded from the program cost. You are welcome to join if you like, with any associated costs on your own. Lecture: "Introduction to the Slow Food Movement: Philosophy, Mission,Vision". Welcome cocktail

Dinner: At the hotel, we’ll enjoy a set, plated meal featuring regional cuisine and fresh seafood plus a glass of wine, mineral water, and coffee; other beverages available for purchase

Evening: At leisure. Continue getting to know your fellow road scholars, settle in, and get a good night’s rest for the full day ahead.

La Morra / Grinzane/on site lecture

Activity note: The drive to La Morra is about 4 miles, approximately 10 minutes. Walking up to 1.5 miles, approximately 2 hours; standing up to 1 hour. Uneven surface and dust. The drive from La Morra to Grinzane is about 5 miles, approximately 12 minutes. Walking up to 0.5 miles; generally flat terrain.

Breakfast: at the Hotel

Morning: Excursion to La Morra Visit the medieval village Truffle hunt with an expert guide “trifolao” and final taste of typical dishes prepared with truffle On-site lecture on “the History of white truffles”

Lunch: Light lunch with truffle tasting

Afternoon: Transfer to Grinzane to visit the castle and the truffle museum. Free time. Return to the hotel.

Dinner: This meal has been excluded from the program cost and is on your own to enjoy what you like. The Group Leader will be happy to offer suggestions and give directions.

Evening: At leisure.

Activity note: The drive to Cherasco is about 10 miles, approximately 20 minutes. The drive to Pollenzo is about 5 miles, approximately 10 minutes. The drive to Borgomale is about 17 miles, approximately 40 minutes. Walking up to 1.5 miles, approximately 2.5 hours; standing up to 1 hour; generally flat terrain.

Breakfast: at the Hotel

Morning: Departure to Cherasco "the chocolate city"which boasts the most important chocolate firms in Italy. Visit to a chocolate firm: chocolate tasting Free time in Cherasco Transfer to the Banca del Vino in Pollenzo for visit and wine tasting Departure to Borgomale Visit to the Cascina Pistone producer of a local "Pecorino" made following the local traditions and with the raw milk of the local endangered "sheep of Langhe" of local vegetables and of fantastic homemade bread made according to ancient recipes, all makes stronger the link between the product and territory

Lunch: Light lunch with cheese tasting

Afternoon: Return to the hotel through the medieval town of Monforte

Dinner: Hotel plated meal at the hotel restaurant

Morning: Departure to Alba Visit the truffle market , truffle dog day and sensory analysis of truffle

Afternoon: Free time. Return to the hotel.

Dinner: Dinner at the Boccondivino restaurant, member of the Slow Food Alliance

Evening: At leisure. Be sure to prepare for check-out and transfer in the morning.

Activity note: The ride is about 1 hour and 30 minutes. Walking approximately 30 minutes on cobblestone streets

Breakfast: at the hotel

Morning: After checking out of the hotel, we will board our private motor coach and transfer to Pavia, where we will check in at our hotel. During our ride we will stop in Turin. Guided visit to the main monumental squares, through the history of the Savoy family.

Lunch: At the local restaurant, we’ll enjoy a set, plated meal featuring regional cuisine and fresh seafood plus a glass of wine, mineral water, and coffee; other beverages available for purchase

Afternoon: Then we will travel via motorcoach to Pavia and we will check in at the Hotel. Free time.

Dinner: Hotel plated meal at the local restaurant

Evening: Leisure.

Morning: From the hotel, we’ll set out to explore Pavia via walking with our Group Leader. Then we will travel via motor coach to "la Certosa di Pavia". Guided visit of the Certosa Monastery.

Lunch: at the local restaurant.

Afternoon: We will have a guided tour at the local rice field.

Dinner: This meal has been excluded from the program cost and is on your own to enjoy what you like. The Group Leader will be happy to offer suggestions and give directions

Morning: Our next field trip by motor coach to Milan to visit the Duomo and the "Museo della Scienza e Tecnica Leonardo da Vinci"

Lunch: on your own inside the museum.

Afternoon: We will continue our visit at the Museum. Return to the hotel.

Dinner: At the hotel, we’ll enjoy a set, plated meal featuring regional cuisine and fresh seafood plus a glass of wine, mineral water, and coffee; Other beverages available for purchase.

Activity note: The drive to Cremona is about 50 miles, approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes. Walking up to 1 mile, approximately 1 hours on cobblestone streets

Morning: We will board our motor coach and transfer to Cremona. Guided visit of the town and to a "lute" laboratory.

Lunch: on your own

Afternoon: Returning to the hotel, the remainder of the afternoon will be Free Time. Take this opportunity for personal independent exploration to see and do what interests you most. Please refer to the list of Free Time Opportunities. The Group Leader will be happy to offer suggestions.

Dinner: At the hotel, we’ll have a plated and served farewell meal with wine, coffee and water; other beverages available for purchase. Share some of your favorite experiences from the program with your fellow Road Scholars..

Evening: At leisure. Be sure to prepare for check-out and departure in the morning.
