Erick Castro grew up in the lowland Caribbean region of Costa Rica, known for its tropical rainforests and diversity of wildlife. After learning to speak English during a study abroad in Nebraska at the age of 17, he became employed at a lodge in Sarapiquí, and soon realized he enjoyed working among nature. For years, he worked closely with international experts in fields such as tropical biology, ecology, and conservation. Erick has worked as a naturalist and birding expert for the past 16 years.
