Days Inn Inner Harbor

Activity note: Walk approximately .4 miles from the hotel to Camden Yards. Walking up to 2 miles throughout Baltimore on sidewalks, uneven terrain including grass and cobblestones.

Breakfast: In the hotel’s Bistro, we will use vouchers to order off the menu. This is at your leisure.

Morning: We will set out from the hotel on foot, to enjoy a behind-the-scenes field trip to Camden Yards from a ballpark employee. We will visit some non-public areas and learn the history of the park. Opened in 1992, Camden Yards is a relatively new stadium, but is one of the first “retro” major league ballparks.

Lunch: At a sandwich shop near by, order off the menu using gift cards.

Afternoon: A short walk from the ballpark, we will visit the Babe Ruth Birthplace Museum – the official museum of the Baltimore Orioles and Babe Ruth. Located in the house where Babe Ruth was born, it houses sports memorabilia and tells the history of both the baseball legend and the Orioles. Afterwards, we will make our way back to hotel for a little while to clean up before returning to Camden Yard for our first game of the weekend.

Dinner: At the ball park, enjoy what you like using vouchers.

Evening: Our first Major League game, Orioles vs. Astros. Please note if a game is cancelled due to adverse weather we will adjust the schedule accordingly.

Baltimore, MD
B,L,D
Days Inn Inner Harbor

Activity note: Walking up to 2 miles throughout Baltimore on sidewalks, uneven terrain including grass and cobblestones.

Breakfast: Hotel vouchers.

Morning: Depart the hotel on foot and enjoy a visit to the National Aquarium with your grandchild, exploring independently as a team to uncover the secrets that lie beneath the ocean's surface. Explore a variety of different exhibits to learn more about aquatic life both right near Baltimore and all over the world. Make sure you ask the experts any questions you might have as you wander around. They are there to help! Some highlights of this aquarium include the Upland Tropical Rain Forest exhibit, a multiple-story Atlantic Coral Reef, an open ocean shark tank, and Australia: Wild Extremes. There are over 17,000 specimens to see and (sometimes) touch here!

Lunch: At the aquarium, enjoy a boxed lunch including a sandwich, cookie, and bottled water.

Afternoon: Departing via motorcoach, we ride to Frederick, home of the Frederick Keys! Our first stop will be at a batting cage, where the grandchildren will be able to practice their swing. Afterwards, we will depart for the Frederick Keys Stadium to watch the Keys face off against the Wilmington Blue Rocks. The Frederick Keys minor league baseball team is the Advanced 'A' affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. Your grandchildren will get the chance to join the team on the field for the National Anthem, and we'll have a special opportunity to meet their mascots Frank Key, short for Francis Scott Key, and Keyote the coyote, who will be enjoying the game right alongside of us.

Dinner: At our seats, enjoy pizza and a soft drink. This way, we don’t have to miss any of the game!

Evening: Continue enjoying our second game of the program. With your grandchild, share America’s favorite past time. At the end of the game, enjoy a firework display at the stadium before we return to our hotel. Please note if a game is cancelled due to adverse weather we will adjust the schedule accordingly.

DAY
4
Fort McHenry, MLB Game
Baltimore, MD
B,L,D
Days Inn Inner Harbor

Activity note: Getting in/out of the motor coach. Walking up to 2 miles on sidewalks, uneven terrain including grass and cobblestones.

Breakfast: Hotel vouchers.

Morning: We will take a motor coach to visit Fort McHenry, where American forces prevailed over the invading British troops during the War of 1812. It was during this battle that the fort’s flag remained aloft, inspiring Francis Scott Key to write “The Star Spangled Banner.” Now a registered National Monument and Historic Shrine by the National Park Service, this site features exhibits at the new visitor’s center with time for self-led exploration of the grounds. Our visit will conclude with a flag presentation led by a park ranger, where a Star-Spangled Banner replica flag will be unrolled and discussed. We then return to the ballpark via motor coach.

Lunch: Enjoy the perks of the Left Field Club Picnic and pick off of the buffet what you like.

Afternoon: We will watch as the Orioles and the Astros face off again this afternoon, for our final baseball game this week. Please note if a game is cancelled due to adverse weather we will adjust the schedule accordingly.

Dinner: At the end of the game, the group will walk to a nearby restaurant for a farewell meal.

Evening: Return to the hotel as a group or independently. This evening will be at your leisure.
