Hotel & Program Check-in/Welcome Dinner/Orientation

Activity note: Hotel and Program Check-In begin at 3:00 p.m. Dinner at 5:00-6:00 p.m. Orientation 6:30 p.m.

Afternoon: Hotel and Program Registration begin at 3:00 p.m.. You will receive your welcome packet containing your name-tag, up-to-date schedule that reflects any last-minute changes, and other important information.

Dinner: Served cafeteria style at the Lake View Dining Hall 5:00-6:00 p.m.

Evening: Orientations, 6:30 p.m. in the first floor meeting room of Holt Lodge. The Group Leader will welcome everyone and lead introductions. We will review the up-to-date program schedule, discuss roles and responsibilities, logistics, safety guideline, emergency procedures, and answer questions.

Activity note: Class begins at 8:30 a.m. Studio B Craft House Evening Activities 6:30 p.m.

Breakfast: Served in dining hall from 7:30-8:15 a.m..

Morning: Class starts at 8:45 a.m. in studio B of the Craft House. The instructor will do introductions; then proceed to a instructional lecture and demonstration on the days project.

Lunch: Served at dining hall from 12:00-1:00 p.m..

Afternoon: Class continues following lunch with continuation of the morning project.

Dinner: Served in dining hall from 5:00-6:00 p.m.

Evening: Evening activities will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the first floor meeting room of Holt Lodge. We will travel by bus to enjoy evening entertainment in the historic Alpine Theatre in downtown Ripley, just five miles from the crafts center.

Activity note: Class begins at 8:30 a.m. Open Studio at 6:30 p.m.

Breakfast: Served in the dining hall 7:30-8:15 a.m.

Morning: Arriving in class we will work to complete the previous days project. Once complete the instructor will demonstrate two projects. We will choose the one we want to do and begin work.

Lunch: Served in dining hall from 12:00-1:00 p.m.

Afternoon: Back in class for the afternoon, we will continue on with the project of the morning. Once completed, the instructor will work with us one-on-one to start our next project.

Dinner: Served in dining hall from 5:00-6:00 p.m..

Evening: At leisure, our classrooms will be open and instructors will be available for us to work on projects.

Breakfast: Served in dining hall from 7:15-8:30 a.m..

Morning: Once in class we will review and share the projects we have completed. The instructor will demonstrate new techniques needed to begin our new project.

Lunch: Served in dining hall from 12:00-1:00 p.m.

Afternoon: We will come together after lunch to complete the morning project. The instructor will continue to work one-on-one to assist us with challenges.

Dinner: Dinner will be served in the dining hall from 5:00-6:00 p.m..

Evening: We will meet in first floor Holt Lodge meeting room for an evening field trip to an authentic Appalachian Moonshine Distillery. Located just two miles from our conference center, the owner will greet us and we will tour the facility and learn the history of moonshine in the hills of West Virginia.

Activity note: Class begins at 8:30 a.m. Class Dinner at 5:00-6:00 p.m. Evening Open Studio Tour at 6:30 p.m.

Breakfast: Served in dining hall from 7:15-8:30 a.m..

Morning: This morning we will review all the basket techniques we have used throughout the week and the instructor will demonstrate the construction of a new holiday basket which we will all begin to make.

Lunch: Served in dining hall from 12:00-1:00 p.m..

Afternoon: After completing the morning project, we will set up a display of our work for the evening open studio tour.

Dinner: We will eat together as a class in the side dining room of the dining hall to enjoy the evening meal and share experiences of the week.

Evening: Following dinner together, we will proceed to the Craft House and begin the evenings Open House Tour where each instructor will highlight their students projects.

Breakfast: Served in dining hall from 7:15-8:30 a.m..

Morning: As we put the finishing touches on our projects, our instructor will offer further ideas and techniques that we can take home for future projects.

Lunch: Farewell dining hall lunch. If time is an issue, please let the coordinator know and a brown bag lunch will be prepared for departure. This concludes our program.
