Road Scholar Celebrates Giving Tuesday & Caregiver Grants

In 2015, Road Scholar created Caregiver Grants in response to the many participants who are serving as caregivers to their loved ones. On Giving Tuesday, our goal is to raise $15,000 to create 10 Caregiver Grants for participants who truly need a time of respite and rejuvenation with other learners.

The Spirit of Giving Tuesday

In the midst of the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, Giving Tuesday emerges as a beacon of light, reminding us of the power we possess to make a positive impact. Founded in 2012 as a response to Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday has been adopted by more than 150 countries and has generated an estimated $2 billion in donations for charitable causes. Falling on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, this global day of generosity has encouraged people to support education, healthcare, environmental conservation and other areas of need.

The Unsung Heroes: Caregivers

Amidst the myriad of causes deserving attention, one group that often goes unnoticed but plays a vital role in our society is caregivers. More than 48 million Americans are currently serving as caregivers, and dedicate their time, energy, and hearts to providing care and support to loved ones facing health challenges.

Caregiving is a labor of love, but it comes with its own set of challenges. The physical, emotional, and financial toll on caregivers can be immense. Recognizing the importance of their role, many organizations and initiatives have emerged to offer a helping hand to these dedicated individuals.

Caregiver Grants: A Ray of Hope

Road Scholar’s Caregiver Grants stand as a beacon of hope, offering financial assistance to those who selflessly devote themselves to the well-being of others. These grants offer caregivers an award of $1,500 to attend a Road Scholar learning adventure in the U.S., enabling them to enjoy a time of respite from their daily lives and an opportunity to learn and engage with their peers.
