Road Scholars Report

Cuba Today: Havana and Viñales

“This was a life-changing experience. The days were packed with exactly what the program promised. The Cuban people are loving and welcoming of the attention of American people. This opportunity is a two way street for human kindness and understanding.”

The Experience

At Road Scholar, we develop learning adventures for those who want a depth of perspective not found on standard travel excursions. Working with expert faculty, we create one-of-a-kind experiences - rich, multifaceted investigations into every topic and destination.

The Faculty

If we’re lucky, we can all remember at least one from our school days. The teacher who made learning a sport. The teacher who opened a new door on the world. The teacher who introduced us to a passionate interest we never saw coming. That’s how we choose the members of our Road Scholar faculty—for the depth of their knowledge about a destination or subject and for their ability to captivate us while communicating that knowledge.

The Community

We call the lifelong learners who participate in our adventures Road Scholars because they are as fun and as stimulating as our learning adventures. Road Scholars are a diverse group of lifelong learners. They are solo travelers, couples, partners, or friends. They are retirees and busy professionals. They are farmers and urbanites. Intellectuals and adventurers. And together, they form a dynamic cohort that enriches every learning experience.

Road Scholar offers opportunities to travel legally to Cuba under the new OFAC Regulations published June 5, 2019. Following the General License category “Support for the Cuban People,” Road Scholar programs include activities intended to strengthen civil society in Cuba.

Road Scholar has been leading global educational adventures for over 40 years.

Our programs are all-inclusive educational adventures, not superficial tours. When you explore with us, you’ll have a deep, thought-provoking experience delivered by faculty experts on site. We take care of every detail, so you can focus on your interactions with the local Cuban people. Lodgings, meals, transportation, travel assistance and gratuities — we include everything in the price of our programs.
