See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
The Delmarva Peninsula is a wildlife and nature photographer's paradise bordered by the Chesapeake Bay on the west and the Atlantic Ocean on the east. The Eastern Shore blends together golden marshes, wide-open bays, perfumed woodlands and sandy beaches, diverse ecosystems that support an equally varied array of wildlife. Bring along your camera and your passion for the natural world to create beautiful images of this astounding environment and to be inspired by efforts to conserve it. Workshop instructors rank at the highest levels in the field and are eager to impart their knowledge to help others. Students will explore the practical and theoretical aspects of image creation and take advantage of full days of workshops, field sessions, photo critiques and more.

Highlights

• Learn guidelines from a seasoned pro on how to best capture wildlife images in the field.
• Visit Assateague National Seashore to photograph its impressive list of avian inhabitants, including waterfowl, osprey, eagles, herons and egrets, among others.
• See the wild ponies of Chincoteague while learning about the traditions of saltwater cowboys and their annual wild pony round-up and channel swim.

Program Notes

Workshop is for intermediate to advanced skill levels and participants comfortable with their DSLR. Learn techniques that dig deeper into the art of nature and landscape photography and how to create the image that you envision, before pressing the shutter.

Activity Notes

Walking and standing unassisted for up to one hour at a time on trails that are not fully accessible to the disabled. Walking is approximately a .25 to .5 mile at a time on beaches, boardwalks, trails, etc. Workshop starts before sunrise and usually ends after sunset.
