Afternoon: Check in at the Heartwood Lodge anytime after 2:00 pm. Orientation packets will be available at check-in.

Dinner: Greet fellow participants and program staff at a welcome dinner held at The Commons, the dining room for Heartwood Lodge.

Evening: Orientation and welcome from program staff and program guides. Program instructors are Registered Maine guides, with sea kayak certification, and will introduce you to expectations for program events.

Kayak the bold waters of Cobscook Bay and enjoy the serenity of Whiting Bay . Hike the shorelines of one of the many land trust properties.

Activity note: Enjoy kayaking in the waters of Fundy Bay.

Breakfast: A hearty continental breakfast will be served at the Heartwood dining room at 7:00 am.

Morning: Vans will depart from the Heartwood at 8:00 am going to the Cobscook Bay waterfront where participants will be split into two groups. Group A will be met by guides for a morning of kayaking in Cobscook and Whiting Bays, leaving from the boat landing to explore the many islands. Paddlers will get a chance to go ashore to do some beachcombing and explore the shoreline. Group B will proceed to one of the area's many land trust properties for a hiking expedition over miles of looping trails. They include fossil beds, beaches, and a spectacular overlooks.

Lunch: Groups A and B will meet at a picnic site close to the kayaking and hiking venues.

Afternoon: Groups A and B will reverse the morning activities with Group B taking to the kayaks for a shoreline adventure, and Group A heading for a forested and shoreline hike.

Dinner: Dinner will be served at an The Commons with a cooked-just-for-you home-style dinner..

Evening: Meet with the wife of a lobsterman who can tell you more about the life of a lobster fishing family than ten lobstermen.

West Quoddy Head State Park and Campobello Island

Activity note: Please note that a U.S. Passport is required to enter Canada and visit Campobello Island.

Breakfast: A sumptuous home-cooked breakfast will be served at the Heartwood dining room at 7:00 am.

Morning: Vans will depart at 8:00 for West Quoddy Head Lighthouse & Park. You will visit the easternmost point of land in the U.S. at the Lighthouse, then hiking along the spectacular trails of West Quoddy Head, which follows the coastline and offers gorgeous views of Campobello Island and Grand Manan.

Lunch: Picnic lunch at Herring Cove on Campobello Island

Afternoon: While on Campobello Island, New Brunswick, Canada, we will study the life of FDR through his summer residence at Campobello and the visitor's center. Walk the bogs in Roosevelt International Park and learn about the plants abounding within. IMPORTANT, PLEASE NOTE: A U.S. Passport is required to enter Canada and visit Campobello Island.

Dinner: You will enjoy a home-cooked New England supper

Kayaking the beauty that is Whiting Bay and exploring the beauty and a shorefront hike.

Breakfast: A sumptuous home-cooked breakfast will be served at the Heartwood dining room at 7:00 am.

Morning: Participants will rejoin their respective groups for kayaking and hiking. Group B will join guides for kayaking in Whiting Bay, a beautiful secluded experience allowing for ample to explore the shoreline and view aquatic life. Group A will explore the coastal trails in a nearby Commissary Point, a 433 acre wildlife management area on Whiting Bay. We'll also dabble with a "letterboxing" experience.

Lunch: Picnic lunch at the boat landing in Edmunds on Whiting Bay for both groups.

Afternoon: Groups A and B will reverse the morning activities with Group A joining the Maine guides for a paddle in the quiet beauty of Whiting Bay and Group B hiking the alluring trails of Commissary Point.

Dinner: Private pizza supper at The Commons! Enjoy the music and entertaining of a local band.

Sailing aboard the new lobster boat, Ocean Obsession.

Activity note: Watch for whales, porpoise and seals. Enjoy the on-board touch tank and get a bird's eye view of a lobster catch.

Breakfast: A sumptuous home-cooked breakfast will be served at the Heartwood dining room at 7:00 am.

Morning: Vans will depart for the Eastport Breakwater at 8:30 am. We may get there a few minutes early so that you can enjoy a short walk and stretch your legs in the summery breeze off the Bay. We'll be spending the morning cruising aboard the Ocean Obsession a new 47' lobster boat. You'll enjoy the aquatic wildlife as you cruise the spectacular waters of Passamaquoddy and Head Harbor Passage. We'll search for whales; glide alongside the porpoise and seals; see the eagle nesting along the cliffs of Campobello Island; and watch the daily comings and goings of the local fishermen.

Lunch: We'll share a snack aboard the Ocean Obsession and then return you to the Easport waterfront where you'll want to sample the many wares of the local eateries.

Afternoon: Enjoy a free afternoon, exploring Eastport (Take some time to search for sea glass, visit the oldest ship chandlerly in the US, or just browse through all of the artists' galleries) or you may want to return to Heartwood Lodge where you can take off on your own and catch some of the offerings of the Lubec area.

Dinner: A Maine lobster dinner treat will be prepared just for you at The Commons.

Evening: Graduation festivities and reflection of the week's best.

Breakfast: Another home-cooked extraordinary breakfast at the Heartwood dining room.

Morning: After a leisurely last breakfast at the Heartwood, take some time to explore Cobscook Bay on your own. You can catch all of those things you may have missed during your stay in this seaside area.

Afternoon: Bid a fond farewell to all your new friends and come back anytime.
