4:00-5:30 p.m. check-in with the Group Leader at the Main Building at Snow Farm. If a taxi is bringing you to our location, please ask them to drop you off as close to the Main Building as possible. The Main Building is the largest building on campus located near the top of the campus.
Program Registration: 4:00-5:30 p.m. When you arrive, you will check in with the Group Leader and get your room assignment. You will also get your welcome packet containing your name-tag, up-to-date schedule that reflects any changes, other important information, and confirm when and where the Orientation session will take place. If you arrive late, ask for your packet when you check in with the Group Leader. Each room at Snow Farm is basic with two beds, pegs for hanging clothes, and a rustic shelf for belongings. There will be fresh linens on each bed (two flat sheets, one pillow case, two towels) as well as two blankets for each bed.
6:15 p.m. in the Snow Farm dining hall, cafeteria-style meal, self-serve salad bar, with coffee, tea, and water included.
Orientation. In the Common Room of the Main Building, the Group Leader will greet everyone and lead introductions. We will review the up-to-date program schedule, discuss roles and responsibilities, logistics, safety guidelines, emergency procedures, and answer questions. If you arrive late, the Group Leader will meet with you individually. Meals are cafeteria-style in the Dining Hall: breakfast 8:00-8:45 a.m., lunch 12:15-1:00 p.m., dinner 6:15-7:00 p.m. We use local ingredients and offer a variety of delicious meals. Our salad bar features a bounty of fresh veggies. We think you’ll love our homemade desserts and warm cookies. Coffee, tea, and water are available at meals and throughout the day. Each day involves walking from the dormitories to the Dining Hall and studios. The estimated farthest distance is approximately 200 yards. The terrain on our campus is hilly, and the road connecting all buildings and facilities is dirt/gravel/stones. Morning classes will run from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 Noon, afternoon classes 1:30-4:30 p.m., unless noted otherwise. Materials and tools are provided. The studios remain open for our use when classes end. Periods in the daily schedule designated as “Free time” and “At leisure” offer opportunities to do what you like and make your experience more meaningful and memorable according to your personal preferences. The Group Leader will be happy to offer suggestions for personal independent exploration. Program activities, schedules, personnel, and indicated distances or times may change due to local circumstances/conditions. In the event of changes, we will alert you as quickly as possible. Thank you for your understanding. To round out the evening, we’ll have presentations by some of our resident artists and instructors. Continue getting to know your fellow Road Scholars, settle in, and get a good night’s rest for the day ahead.
