Skiing at Deer Valley between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Deer Valley has 21 lifts and approx. 100 runs. Time, distance, trails and terrain (groomed, bumps, etc.) vary based on your interests and selection.
Enjoy breakfast at the Zermatt.
After breakfast we'll take the van shuttle from the Zermatt Resort to Deer Valley for our first day of skiing. After arriving at Deer Valley, we'll divide into groups for our morning's activities. For those participants who signed up for skiing lessons when registering for the program, we'll meet with our Professional Ski Instructors of American (PSIA) to work on skiing techniques and improve our skills. Our PSIA instructors will work with these participants individually to help correct any poor habits and make improvements to stance and balance that can help with skiing safe and longer in preparation for our week ahead. For those participants who chose to exclude the cost of skiing lessons, we'll explore some of the slopes by ski with our group leaders and Mountain Host, learning about the mountain's layout and some of its best ski spots. Along the way we’ll have the opportunity to hear about the Mountain’s history from the boom days of silver mining to the 2002 Winter Olympics. Participants not interested in exploring the mountain with the Host are welcome to venture out on their own, individually or in small groups to ski.
This meal has been excluded from the program cost and is on your own to enjoy what you like. The Group Leader will be happy to offer suggestions.
After lunch we'll meet up to explore and ski the mountain as a group or you can ski on your own or small groups with friends. We’ll continue skiing until the lifts close at 4:00 p.m. when we'll board the Zermatt Shuttle Van to return to the resort. (You are welcome to take the shuttle back to the Zermatt at anytime in the afternoon.) For participants who do not want to carry their equipment to and from the slopes each day, daytime and overnight ski storage is available at the Snow Park Lodge or Jordanelle Express Gondola Building for a small fee. Back at the Zermatt, we'll have some free time before diner where you can enjoy with your fellow Road Scholars during a Happy Hour.
Enjoy dinner at the Zermatt hotel restaurant where we'll order off a limited menu.
After dinner, we'll enjoy an evening class on how to improve ski techniques, skill level and ski the best runs the mountain has to offer, with one of the top PSIA certified instructor in the Zermatt Conference Room.
