DAY
1
Welcome, Introductions, and Orientation.

Activity note: Welcome activities are designed to allow participants a chance to socialize and get to know one another. Orientation time will provide a look at the week ahead and allow participants time to ask questions about specific concerns. Please note: Kettunen Center does not serve nor sell alcoholic beverages, but participants are welcome to bring their own to enjoy during social times.

Afternoon: Please plan to arrive between 2:30 and 4:30 PM. Participants are welcome to unload in front of the main building, before proceeding to the parking lot. Check in and registration is in the Main Lobby. Welcome & Orientation session begins at 4:30 with introduction to instructors and a look at the week ahead.

Dinner: A buffet-style dinner is served from 5:30 - 6:30 PM.

Evening: Join your fellow participants for a time of get acquainted and social activities. Beverages and light snacks are offered during this time.

Intro to Tai ji, Painting & Photography. Games and campfire.

Activity note: Optional morning hike will be tailored for participants, with consideration for length and difficulty. Wear comfortable clothes to Tai ji. Campfire will take place at the lakefront, weather permitting.

Breakfast: Breakfast served 7:00 - 8:30 AM.

Morning: 7:00 - 8:00 AM: Early Morning Stretch (optional) will feature a guided hike. 8:30 AM -Morning Update: Whole Group Meeting to review day ahead. 8:45 - 9:30 - Introduction to Tai ji. We encourage all to go to this session, as it gives on overview of what these daily, before breakfast, Tai ji sessions will entail. 9:30 - 10:30 Introduction to Watercolors with artist Mary Guntzviller. Mary will give an overview of what to expect during the week. She will give information of when she will be available for assistance. She will also give brief showing of some of her own work,and share her philosophy about painting and perception. 10:30 -10:45- Short break. 11:00 - Noon-Introduction to Photography with Charles St. Charles. Charles will give an overview of his work and share some of his current projects. He will also discuss the format of the class and give information about his availability for extra help

Lunch: Lunch served 12:00 - 1:00 PM.

Afternoon: 1:00 - 3:30 PM- Instructional Watercolor - painting with Mary. 3:30 - 4:00 PM - Afternoon Break. Light snacks and beverages. 4:30 - 6:00 Afternoon Stretch (Free time/Socialization time, for participants). Yoga is offered during this time with Jen St. Charles. Participants may choose to do a number of recreational activities on their own (kayaking, hiking, canoeing, etc.).

Dinner: Dinner served 6:00 - 7:00 PM

Evening: Evening activities include board games, card games and time for socialization. Light snacks are provided. Participants may wish to enjoy time at the waterfront campfire, if weather permits. (Note: Painting room is open for those wishing to paint.)

Activity note: Photography instruction will take place every morning. Charles may ask participants to hike a short distance while taking photos. Painting Room is open even when Mary is not present/instructing. Mary and Charles are available for individual help, and participants can discuss with them times when they would be available.

Activity note: Mary will schedule a time for those wishing to do a Plein Air painting session. Charles may want participants to take a short hike during the morning photography session. Pontoon boat tour will be offered during afternoon free/social time, and after supper.

Morning: 7:00 - 8:00 AM (optional) Early Morning Stretch - Tai ji 8:30 - Morning Update 9:00 - Noon- Photography Instruction with Charles. 9:00 - Noon- Painting room is open for those wishing to paint on their own.

Forest Ecology, flora/fauna hike. Storytelling and nonsense!

Activity note: Forest ecology hike - a look at old growth beech/maple forest. Hike will be on Kett trails- about a mile or less. Wear comfortable shoes. Plan on joining fellow participants for a Kettunen Center Road Scholar tradition - an evening of sharing jokes, stories, favorite books, poems, songs and other nonsense! Those wishing to participate should prepare a 3 minute presentation to share. Light snacks will be offered during this time.

Breakfast: Breakfast served 7:00 - 8:30 AM.

Morning: 7:00 - 8:00 AM (optional) Early Morning Stretch - Tai ji 8:30 - Morning Update 9:00 - 10:00 Forest Ecology Hike, on Kett trails. 10:00 - Noon - Photography Instruction with Charles. 9:00 - Noon- Painting room is open for those wishing to paint on their own.

Lunch: Lunch served 12:00 - 1:00 PM.

Evening: 7:30 - ? Stories, jokes, songs and other nonsense! An evening of sharing with other Road Scholar participants, as we end our week together with a time of laughter and fellowship. Light snacks will be provided as we socialize around the fireplace.
