I just returned from the Advanced Nature Photography - Arches and Canyonlands (Night Sky Photography) program in Utah. It met all my expectations and then some! The instructors - Ryan, Drew and Yoshi were great! They provided detailed instruction at each morning session and then hands-on guidance and recommendations on the mountain tops. They have so much information to share and are easy to work with. I look forward to other programs like this!

Excellent program for any photographer with a tripod. Ryan, Drew, and Yoshi provided excellent one-on-one instruction when asked, offered general directions to the group, and were always available. Arches NP, Canyonlands NP, and Dead Horse SP contain iconic Southwest landscapes and we were on site for sunrise and sunset. Fellow participants used various techniques and, being avid photographers, shared their skills and methods. I recommend this program for anyone interested in landscape photography!

This was an outstanding program, from the stunning beauty of the Moab area to the knowledgable instruction of Ryan, Drew and Yoshi. Not only did we develop our photography skills but we learned some geology in the process. This was our first Road Scholar adventure but it won’t be our last. Thank you, all!

Excellent opportunity to improve landscape photography skills in an ideal setting. I learnt a great deal from my fellow participants and the program leaders. The tour program selects excellent locations and the time of day for the tours were chosen with perfection of available lighting in mind. The group discussions were enriching, encouraging and FUN!

What beautiful country it is! Every day was better than the one before. Drew and Ryan were perfect guides, and had everything covered, from expert photo advice to informative geology lessons. The weather was perfect every day, food was great, every detail was covered. I enjoyed the mix of people I met, from all over the country, from all walks of life. It made me realize I just gotta travel more. So this was not my last trip with Road Scholars. The last night we spent at the Sunrise Grille enjoying what else - the sunset - when Ryan got his drone hovering above. It was awesome! Moab was magical the a spot I'll forget. I'm reading Edward Abbey's Desert Solitaire, and can picture myself there again.

An excellant trip and group. Ryan and Drew were fun, set up great opportunities for us and were knowledgeable about the geology of the area and photographic techniques needed to capture these amazing Utah landscapes. They even surprised us with frozen ice cream treats the last hot afternoon in Canyonlands.

Fantastic! Terrific leaders in both Ryan and Drew. Excellent pace with great alternatives for those who couldn't do the tough climb to Delicate Arch. If you are looking for camera support this is the experience for you. No matter what camera or lens you have this is the friendly kind of help that enables you to advance your knowledge. Recommend a tripod and long lenses.

For anybody who enjoys photography at any skill level, this is an outstanding opportunity to learn while experiencing the beauty of Arches and Canyonlands national parks. It's also a great chance to spend time with others from a variety of backgrounds and with varying skill levels who have a love of photography in common. I am thinking of taking this course again in the future. The trip leaders, Ryan and Drew, really know their stuff when it comes to photography, and they are happy to share their knowledge, answer questions and offer suggestions. It was also great fun to view the top three photos submitted by trip participants for presentation the last evening. What a great opportunity to see the sights from others' perspectives!

The instructors were excellent at putting you into the right places at the right times. They accomodated a wide range of experience levels and gear. The trip was extremely well organized with minimal standing around and gave plenty of time to get into the groove of a location.

Thanks to Ryan and Drew for a wonderful photography experience in Arches and Canyonlands! They were knowledgeable, caring, and funny! Great iconic spots and also off-the-beaten-path places! Some favorites--hiking to Delicate Arch, the awesome sunrise at Mesa Arch, the meditative experience at Needles in Canyonlands, and the iconic Balanced Rock... I learned how to shoot on manual! I appreciated the surprise "cookies and ice cream party" to celebrate my husband's birthday and another participant's birthday ... that was very thoughtful! This was our 2nd wonderful Road Scholar adventure.

A well conceived and executed program. Ryan and Drew were both knowledgeable and helpful. Ryan provided useful information both on photography and the geology of the areas we visited. Drew prides himself as the technophile, and provided much appreciated guidance on the most appropriate focal lengths and lens filters for each area. Both appreciated the different cameras used. A number of memorable photos were even captured on smart phones. Group leaders who are familiar with the areas being photographed, anticipated shooting conditions, and travel times to each area are essential to this program. Both Drew and Ryan are experienced with this program and did a great job. We arrived at each of the sites with ample time to set up equipment without excess time to get bored awaiting great light for landscape photography.

This was an excellent program with superb instruction and great itinerary. A photographer of any level will find it interesting. I'm a proficient photographer with advanced skills and I wasn't bored at all. My husband, who is a beginner, found this program very interesting and not at all intimidating. The locations were spectacular and we saw them at the best possible time. A great bonus - the food was the best of all eight RS programs we've attended! Be prepared to wake up very early every day.
