Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor are a great experience on its own, but RoadScholar really enhances the whole adventure, especially for a first time visitor. Linda (group leader) and Glenn (group instructor) along with all the staff do a fantastic job!

This was was my first Road Scholar vacation...there will be more! I enjoyed the hikes, the bike trip, the short educational segments, and the free time to explore Bar Harbor. My group was a nice mix of solo travelers like me, couples, and friends traveling together.

Great program! The hiking was challenging and definitely got me out of my comfort zone. The leaders were outstanding and helped to make the trip so enjoyable and interesting. The whole program was so well organized and the activity level was perfect- they kept us very busy! Would highly recommend this program if you want to stay busy and seek challenging hikes . There were allot of boulders to climb over, but the hiking guides were helpful and very attentive to the group, stopping when necessary and always ensuring our safety while we enjoyed outstanding scenery.Would definitely do this program again.

Acadia National Park is absolutely beautiful, and if you want to really experience it, this is a wonderful program for that. The hikes are great, the views amazing, and the leaders have so much knowledge and experience to share. You'll stay in a comfortable place a short walk from town, but removed from all the tourists, and you'll eat great meals with nice people. Definitely go on this trip!

What a joyful experience in Acadia! The group leaders/instructors (Bill/Glenn) were exceptional. They were welcoming, knowledgeable, organized, enthusiastic and fun. The activity level was definitely spirited and the program was well-planned. I completed the program with a sense of accomplishment. I appreciated Road Scholar information advising this program was for experienced hikers. Thanks to Bill/Glenn and all instructors for sharing their passion and knowledge - it was an outstanding program.

Fabulous hiking, wonderfully organized and in a beautiful place. Bill, our guide and a treasure, had the perfect personality to lead us on excellently chosen hikes. He gave us an extra hand when needed and encouragement to continue on when we thought we were tired. Glenn, a gifted storyteller, taught us about Mr. Dorr, the man responsible for encouraging the donation of the land for Acadia National Park. He also gave an excellent presentation and explanation of lobster trapping. The Quality Inn, recently updated and modernized, was ideally located within walking distance of the quaint Bar Harbor downtown. The food was excellent at a variety of local restaurants. Lunches on the trail were at awe inspiring vistas of this beautiful area. Would actually consider doing this one again!

The program was well organized, alternating challenging and relaxing activities. Glenn provided us with useful information before the trip, then gave wonderful small lectures while there. Bill, our guide is a delightful person, understood the capability and the limits of every person and did a wonderful job to keep the group together.

This was a great trip and a wonderful way to experience Acadia and Bar Harbor! The hikes were varied and all involved beautiful scenery; there are some challenges with hiking over rocky terrain but everyone managed it well and those hikes were definitely worth it. Glenn, Bill and Lauren are all so passionate about the area and the history of Maine and the park; so glad they shared their passion and knowledge with us!

Fun! Fun! Fun! We were in good hands with Glen and Linda and their team. Great weather, turning leaves and tasty lobsters. Who could ask for more? Thanks for making the trip with our private group of women a special week. We've been hiking together for 17 years and you made it a wonderful anniversary trip. The Quality Inn was comfortable, the location made it easy to walk to town and the laundry facility was a wonderful amenity. All the meals were delicious with hearty breakfasts and cookies in our lunch sacks, but the best was dinner with no waiting for tables, just delicious options . We learned the history and flora and fauna of a beautiful National Park. Thanks again.

This was a fantastic trip. Bar Harbor and Acadia NP are amazing and the hiking and biking was so much fun. Our guide Bill was always helpful and the program participants were super nice too. I definitely recommend this program.

Some of the most beautiful hiking I've aver participated in. Some things to know beforehand: you'll be hiking on very uneven terrain-roots & rocks almost everywhere. Hikes include clamboring over or stepping down from good-sized rocks in many places. But it the scenery is worth it and the hotel has a hot tub and heated pool! The leaders are extremely accommodating, pleasant, and funny. Even though there is lots to see in this world, I am thinking seriously about going back to this one.

The hikes were challenging but wonderful, the scenery was beautiful, the park history was informative and the local staff was first rate. You have to be willing to do some rock scrambling but our hiking leader, Bill, made sure everyone met the challenge. If you love hiking, you'll love this trip. Larry Margasak, Silver Spring, MD

I highly recommend this program. The leaders were excellent, and the scenery was beautiful, (when we didn't have fog obscuring our view!) Our hotel was close to downtown Bar Harbor which was beautiful too. After dinner options included shopping in stores or sitting in a lovely park or walking the shoreline trail. Since the hotel was within walking distance, we were free to do what we wanted after dinner. Don't do this hike unless you are sure you are physically fit. There was a lot of uphill hiking over and onto rocks. Read the definition of a "Moderately Challenging" hike and feel confident you can do it.

This hike was extremely enjoyable. The guides, Bill and Cam, were excellent. Glen Tucker the owner of the sponsoring agency talked to us everyday. I highly recommend it

I would describe these hikes as challenging, rather than moderately challenging. The final hike is a 1500 foot climb scrambling over boulders. If you are short, as I am, scaling the rocks was difficult. We have done more than 15 hiking trips in both the US and Europe and this hike was among our most challenging. The accommodations are basic but very clean and comfortable. The breakfasts at the hotel were excellent and included fresh blueberries, ham, eggs, home made oatmeal, as well as cereals and breads. The hotel is walking distance to downtown Bar Harbor so very well located. The guide Bill, was excellent and humorous. Glen, the owner, provided great historical information on the area.

The Bar Harbor Hiking & Biking program is a 10. The instructor, tour guide and support people go above and beyond to provide a unique, challenging and educational program. Put on your hiking boots and hit the trail with them.

This trip was a disappointment. The two main leaders were very enthusiastic, people oriented, sociable and quick to inter-act with group participants. However, there was the underlying feeling that we were on a "time limit". Who climbs up Cadillac Mountain and rides the bus down ! On the bike ride, every quarter mile we stopped and had to wait for the out of shape participants to catch up. While the environs were architecturally interesting the ride was way too short. We ended the ride at a local harbor loaded up our bikes and driven back to the hotel. We were given our sack lunch and ate it at our hotel rooms, WHY couldn't we have stayed at a picturesque spot and eat our lunch and not staring at the cars in hotel parking lot ? Perhaps it was because the "time limit" had been reached and the leader's work was done for the day (12:noon). I am grateful the leaders had the foresight to plan and accommodate two groups of attendees (fast and slow). Yes the leaders are one of the most widely used companies with Road Scholar (as they informed us) but there was a price. Bar Harbor is very touristy but pretty and interesting. You are able to sit at an outdoor cafe and enjoy the grandure and beauty of the ocean and a beverage of choice. Priceless !

Just back from an amazing hiking trip to Acadia Nat'l Park. The Hosts/Guides were so enthusiastic, knowledgeable and welcoming. This was my first trip with R.S. but this will not be my last! :)

This was an exceptionally fine program. Expect to spend your days really hiking but enjoying the outdoors and your companions so much the workout will seem a lot of fun. Also a great way to learn about Maine for those who have not been there before.

Whether or not you have ever visited Bar Harbor, you should try this program. You ought to be able to walk 3 or 4 miles uphill to participate fully, but if you can do that, you are definitely missing something by not signing up.
