If you love the outdoors, this trip is for you. Whether you hike or walk, you will see spectacular scenery. The guides are amazing--always accommodating each person's walking/hiking speed, and so interesting! The food is not to be believed. I felt like I was dining in a gourmet resturant everyday. I have dietary restrictions and they accommodated me without issue. The hosts, Stephen and Joy and gracious as are the staff who cook and serve the food and Shawn who drives the shuttle bus and helps as a guide.
Experience the beauty of fall in Glen Sutton, Quebec and Stowe, Vermont. Small group hikes and wonderful meals prepared by a warm and caring staff will satisfy your body and soul.
I chose this program for the hiking, and it was all that I could have hoped for, yet the first thing that comes to mind when I think of the Outdoor Lodge in Glen Sutton, is the food! The meals were delicious, prepared with fresh ingredients, and the dinners were beautifully plated, and included details such as edible flowers. Even the sandwiches for our lunches were outstanding. Each day one could choose to go on a hike or a walk. I chose the hikes, which were as described. The hike leaders were intelligent, capable, kind and good conversationalists. I liked everything about this trip!
Wonderful experience for the serious occasional hiker, but not quite up there if one just enjoys walking. SUPERB staff, top 1% fellow participants (and this may be more significant & predictable than you might think.) Food was excellent. As best I can determine, however, if this program merits an 8 or a 9, the multi-sport option - same location, duration, etc. - might earn a 9 or 10. I know that's speculative, but the hikes and walks were only interesting "in part."
Great food and the staff catered to our varying activity levels. Lovely site with comfortable rooms and inviting common areas inside and on the wrap-around porch. Excellent variety of hikes, walks, tours, lectures, music, movies. Nice people to be around---both staff and fellow guests.
A very good outing! Whether you are a veteran walker or a hiker looking for more challenging terrain, this trip has you covered. Excellent hikes in southern Quebec and northern Vermont. Beautiful scenery and wonderful exercise. I particularly loved the climb up Mt. Mansfield in Vermont!
Take this program as you will love the leaders, hostess, activities, food, and lodge. Great experience!
An outstanding program for hikers of all levels with a leader and his wife that are the "best" at caring for your needs. The food was some of the best cuisine I have eaten. A five star program.
This trip was my best Road Scholar adventure yet!
I experienced wonderful people and a wonderful program. Without the guides, I never would have climbed Mt. Mansfield. And, all of the meals were simply delicious, with each one being a special treat. Thank you!
Food was excellent. Hiking options were appreciated.
The Hiking and Walking in Quebec and Vermont was a fabulous trip. The hikes were varied, had beautiful scenery and loved the exertion level, comradery of Stephen, the guides and other participants. Stephen and other guides were so positive, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful throughout the entire trip. They made us feel like family. Everyone was accommodated according to their daily desire for exertion! The food was the best ever and accommodations were like a B and B. I really enjoyed and learned from the educational events and thought a highlight was the professional singing in a nearby former church by a crew member(our cook). I would highly recommend this trip.
What an experience in a new area of the country-beautiful,rural but near Montreal. Extensive hikes/walks were based on your preference with options to rotate between groups. Had excellent food, pleasant hosts and a congenial group of thirteen participants. Excellent presentations on music and the history of Canada. Even the weather was accommodating
