This is an AWESOME program if you are interested in forensics and how it relates to investigating and interpreting crime scenes. There are several facets of presentation from medical examiner to blood spatter to firearms to toxicology. Local real stories are shared.

Had a wonderful time at Pilgrim Pines - learned a lot and enjoyed the diversity of the group. The location is beautiful and the staff were very pleasant and accommodating though next time I'll bring my own blanket. The bathrooms were spotless!

The instructors provided an abundance of material, stopped to answer participant questions, and moved smoothly right back to the subject matter. There was blood and gore but tempered by the humor of the instructors and the interesting facts they presented. After presenting the participants with enough facts & figures, then the instructors turn the tide, and ask us, the participants to figure out what happened: was the blood because of gunshot or stabbing, was it murder or suicide, blood drip or blood spatter? We also received “extras.” We had an evening of live music; one hour, one evening, by a very special local guitarist. We were also able to watch a short documentary on one of the subjects who was briefly discussed by one of our instructors. Both of these extras enhanced the program. Also, our hostess Tiffany bent and reshaped the program to our needs and requests. She was everywhere and very sensitive to each and everyone person. Tiffany was genuinely friendly and funny too! The facility, Pilgrim Pines, is beautiful, a wooded area with Lake Swanzey at your doorstep. I was able to get in a walk every day it didn’t rain. All the cabins were within walking distance of the dining area, and our daily lectures; all accessible by ramp and/or a few steps. One person with a walker had no problem entering/exiting all facilities. Even when we went off site, everyone was accommodated. The chefs are also jewels. I am not vegetarian but the vegetarian food was delicious. I rarely eat beef but the beef brisket was oh so tender. A different soup everyday which were hot, flavorful, and well seasoned. Not at all like CSI on TV because that’s not real but this program was!

Excellent program. Members of the State Trooper Detective division gave very interesting examples of actual cases and provided very interesting classes. Accommodations, meals and all leaders were well organized and quick to solve any issue. The entire program exceeded my expectations and could not have been any better. I would definitely recommend this to anyone interested in this subject matter.

This program was great. The staff goes out of their way to accommodate you. Chuck does a great job coordinating. Presenters work in field and are really knowledgeable. You will learn from experts in the forensic field. The NH lakeside setting is great. The only drawback was my cabin room. Very old, needs updating. I still recommend this program and facility.

If you enjoy crime shows on TV or read mysteries, you will enjoy this course. Get up close and personal with CSI techniques and descriptions of local crimes and crime scenes.

The program content was outstanding and far exceeded my expectations. I will never look at a drop of blood or a footprint the same again. And, I now fully understand why a number (.08, for example) can be identified to determine legal impairment due to alcohol, but will probably never be identified to determine legal impairment due to opioids or other drugs.

Excellent introduction to CSI work. Conducted by real professionals who do the work every day, and are skilled at presenting detailed and technical information so that it can be understood by "normal" people. The group was highly attentive and generally knowledgeable about the topic, an added benefit. Nice setting in the NH woods, and fall colors were great.

Beautiful setting with relaxed atmosphere and well qualified experts and interesting presentations. This program is mainly lecture, with trips that include bus rides to more seated lecture and minor tours. It worked well for older and disabled/limited participants, but could also be difficult for anyone not enjoying prolonged sitting. One can get exercise, but we had rain through much of the week. Wonderful hosts and delicious food with a large variety of options, typical American meals (no dinners off site, bag lunches when touring). We had a large group (over 30), but everyone traveling solo had their own room. I was initially envious of those who got lakeside cabins, until I saw the inside. I had a two story condo with skylight and a double bed in the loft. I was also able to get a strong wifi signal in my room, due to its proximity to the chapel. The cabins were in need of renovation and had very small shower stalls. I was glad I drove and brought my own bedding; the bedspreads and blankets are old and not laundered in between guests. I felt very guilty that my room was significantly nicer than the cabins I saw. If you have good weather, and enough daylight, you can walk around the lake, kayak and swim.
