Of course, the scenery was beautiful; and RS's preparation and presentation was impeccable. What stood out for me, was the quality of the food on the train. Dinner at Best Western Calgary was meh. Absolutely loved our fellow travelers; and made some good friends.

Other than the hotel in Kamloops, this trip was terrific. The leader, Andrea Sawchuck, was a breath of fresh air - very caring , very organized, very professional yet not intrusive. I particularly enjoyed Banff and the trips around it. Even the day in Calgary was informative and interesting. But, the trip on the Rocky Mountaineer was the highlight (the Gold Service was extraordinary and well worth the extra money), and except for the overnight in Kamloops, particularly the poor hotel and the smoke everywhere, the trip could not have been better. Even Vancouver was neat. A fitting end to the trip.

The positive, pampered experience aboard the Rocky Mountaineer is unequaled.

The Rocky Mountaineer program with Road Scholar was excellent, and I would highly recommend it. The Silver leaf service was awesome, the rail car was roomy, comfortable, and the sights were spectacular. The rest of the program on the coach was fantastic also. great educational speakers, and fun was had by all.

Enjoy the welcome of a Road Scholar guide throughout the trip. Travel through the Rockies in the domed car of the Rocky Mountaineer. Hike with expert guides at Jasper National Park, Yoho/ Moraine Lake, and Banff. Learn history and geology of the area through lectures, museum stops, and commentary en route. Walk on a glacier. Ride a gondola to the summit of Sulfur Mountain. Marvel at waterfalls and turquoise lakes. Enjoy free time with suggestions. Share high tea with your new friends. An unforgettable experience.

An awesome Road Scholar program! We enjoyed literally every minute of this active program surrounded by the remarkable beauty of the Canadian Rockies, Coastal Range, and Vancouver. The accommodations and meals from Calgary to Banff and Jasper to Vancouver were top-notch; our guide and the local guides/presenters were terrific; and the participants were great fun to travel with. The trip exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended!

1st class train travel in the Rockies with extraordinary people and Program Coordinator, Sarah didn't miss a beat, exceedingly helpful, a delight as a person and resource, good hearted, and exceptionally smart and experimental in her own life -- contagious qualities. She even did some early morning exercises on the train aisle. She is also beautiful.

If you have enjoyed riding in trains at any time in your life, and you like the idea of beautiful scenery while you enjoy lovely meals served by cheerful young people, this is the vacation for you! The Rocky Mountaineer is the peak experience of this trip, as long as you get up now and then and walk the aisles.

Wonderful experience! We traveled by train, coach, ferry and on foot. Visited glacier-fed lakes, beautiful forests and wonderful cities. An experience of a lifetime thanks to the wonderful folks at Road Scholar and Rocky Mountaineer Railroad.

This trip was so interesting and amazing. I saw such beautiful mountain scenery, including waterfalls, glaciers, and a variety of animals. The lodgings were great and the instructors were also very good. The highlight of the trip for me was the ride on the Rocky Mountaineer train. It was fabulous! The crew were so attentive and engaging. The scenery was spectacular. This trip doesn't disappoint.

This was my 9th Road Scholar trip, and the food and accommodations on this trip were the best. I particularly liked the unique aspects of this trip - two days on the Rocky Mountaineer Railroad and the ability to get close and personal with a glacier.

We took the Rockies by Rail: Western Canada Splendor trip. This was our first group tour, though it was with a group we already new, and we loved it. Our tour leader (Susan Carr) was excellent, as were the four specialist/lecturers on the trip. The trip was more expensive that most travel we've done, but we got a lot for our money. Highly recommended.

This was our first organized group trip, but definitely not the last. Highly recommend Road Scholars' Best of the Rockies by Rail! Especially in the fall, when the colors are glorious!

I was a solo traveler. This was my first Road Scholar trip and I was so impressed with the organization, knowledgeable staff, the food, and the general experience! I have already booked another trip and am looking at others!!

Our guide, Craig Oldfield, was terrific! The tour itself helped fulfill several lifetime goals and wishes with regard to the Rocky Mountaineer and seeing the majesty of the Canadian Rockies. If I had one wish, the accommodations would have been a higher grade than provided which were a negative distraction for the program.

This was one of the best trips I have taken. It was my first Road Scholar trip but not the last. It was exactly as advertised.

If you are looking for stunning beauty, friendly people, and new information about Canada, this is the trip for you. We learned and saw so much of this beautiful country. I highly recommend this trip. Fall is the best time, the colors of the trees were beautiful and flowers everywhere in Vancouver. What more could you ask for?!

The Canadian Rockies are very different from the Colorado Rockies, more steep summits, lower tree line and therefore more "rocky." This is a fabulous way to see them and learn the geologic and people history of them. It has long been a desire of mine to take the Rocky Mountaineer. That was a fabulous scenic trip for two days, especially with Gold Leaf Service (observation car over the dining service). But I'd have to say the most glorious mountain views were from the bus going up the Ice Fields Parkway. The whole trip was a wonderful experience.

A fabulous trip, just don't go expecting to see the Rockies by Rail. The rest of the trip is for the Rockies and the train is for partying!

Be prepared for "wow moments" with every stop. The Canadian Rockies are so picturesque! The train ride was first class service...food and drink galore. Our guide, Bill Spiller was local, so he not only knew the area, could give educational information, but shard personal stories as well. We extended our stay for 2 days...bus tour to Victoria and Bouchart Gardens a wonderful addition, and then we took a hop on and off bus tour of Vancouver to "check our what we missed", which also added to this trip. Highly recommend.

I am of advanced age and worried that I would not be able to keep up with the tour. I had no trouble. The tour guide was very attentive and I enjoyed the walking tours with no difficulty. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
