Alex Dzib
The change from hunting birds to conserving them in the Yucatan region of Mexico shaped Alex Dzib’s career. His father had been a hunter, but started leading birdwatching excursions when the lands near their home became the Ria Celestun Biosphere Reserve. This ignited Alex’s own passion for birds, and he studied biology in the U.S.A. He has worked for Mexico’s fish and wildlife agency, and he created a conservation program for children that won him a scholarship from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.
