Although the weather did not cooperate (cloudy/rainy) the tour was what I expected. The highlights were the architectural river cruise (the guide was fantastic), the Field Museum, and of course the Art Institute. Our tour guides, Arlene and Nancy, were knowledgeable and personable. The hotel was nicely located north of the river, making it easy to get around. The service was very slow for breakfast making early morning lectures a challenge to get to. The two lectures were excellent. The bus on our 1st full day had no air conditioning (broken) which caused some people discomfort. All together the windy city came out looking pretty good.

This was a delightful program in a phenomenal city! The variety of fascinating sites and activities, the group leaders and instructors, and the lodging were wonderful. There is some free time on this program for a customized experience. We recommend staying in Chicago additional days, as there is so much to do and see. Be prepared for variable weather. And tons of fun!

It was thrilling to be back in Chicago after 55 years when I last visited. The city was vibrant, clean, safe, walk-able, energetic and welcoming. Our hotel was at a superior location, comfortable, friendly. Meals were at fascinating restaurant choices, but too much food. Next trip I will ask for all vegetarian. I liked all our travel mates, but the group was too large for my taste. With such a busy daily schedules, there was limited time to get to know one another. Content: Good tours but too much focus on architecture. I'd have preferred fewer descriptions rooted in "white privilege" and more discussion of the cultural and racial complexities of the City. That aspect of life in Chicago was largely ignored. I understand why transport was on school buses but OH! poor me, I often had to use a seat over the rear wheels, the worst seat on the bus. The leaders were not willing to ask the people who always sat up front to give others a chance to have a smoother ride.

Recently took my first tour with Road Scholar, one of their "Signature City" offerings, Chicago. I would highly recommend it as a great way to experience and enjoy the wonderfully diverse cities of the USA!

Chicago is a city of many features, resilience, determination and the ability to "make a comeback". This city has an incredible history that is not taught or spoken of in the classroom.

This was a wonderful program. Our program leaders Rachel and Susan were extremely knowledgeable and accommodating, and throughout the tour were monitoring us to make sure all our needs were being met. This program surpassed my expectations. I can’t wait to take another Road Scholar tour!

I had to complete some of the evaluation twice because I was timed out. Very annoying.

Listening to the daily news, you might have a negative impression of Chicago. This "Signature" program revealed a vibrant metroplex rich in history and a civic heritage of supporting it's numerous cultural and recreational opportunities.
