1
Check-in, Welcome and Orientation

The Stonebridge Inn

Activity note: Accommodations are in the conveniently located Stonebridge Inn, double occupancy rooms with private bath. Check-in is on Sunday at the Hotel Lobby from 3:00 - 5:00 pm. Road Scholar Orientation begins at 5:00 sharp. The Hotel has a large heated swimming pool and spa, use of which is included in the Program.

Afternoon: 5:00 PM - We will have an informative overview of the program to come plus an opportunity to talk with program staff and your fellow participants during an introductory “get-acquainted” session.

Dinner: Buffet dinner at Stonebridge Inn. Meals: Breakfasts will be at the Stonebridge Inn and is a hot buffet, Lunches will be provided either as a Box Lunch or Restaurant meal depending upon activities. Dinners will be in restaurants or catered in the hotel. One dinner is on your own to explore the Snowmass Village cuisine. The Program ends after breakfast on Friday.

Evening: Important program information will be continued.

Silver mine tour and Discover Maroon Bells and Lake

Activity note: NOTE: All activities in this daily itinerary are subject to change due to group needs and weather. Activities such as mine trip, raft trip, horseback ride will occur although the day may change from this itinerary.

Breakfast: Breakfast buffet Stonebridge Inn

Morning: Travel to spectacular Maroon Bells Lake and enjoy an easy hike around the lake with interesting things to discover. Maroon Bells are one of the most popular and photographed mountain attractions in Colorado.

Lunch: Box lunch

Afternoon: Discover the mining heritage of Aspen with an exciting trip underground to a working silver mine.

Dinner: Dinner at popular Village Pizza Restaurant.

Evening: Free time to enjoy the swimming pool at the hotel.

Horseback Ride, Glenwood Hot Springs, Waterslide

Breakfast: Breakfast buffet Stonebridge Inn

Morning: We start our morning driving by van to a stable where we will take an exciting horseback ride. This is the ideal way to enjoy the majestic Western Colorado Rocky Mountains. From the stables you will gently climb in elevation, crossing meadows and hills with scenic vistas of mountains and river valleys. The horses and guides are trained for all ages and experience.

Lunch: Box lunch

Afternoon: After lunch we travel to the world famous Hot Springs Poll in the town of Glenwood Springs. Relax and soak in the hot pools, swim in the hot springs heated pool, take a ride on the waterslide, all a way to refresh from the morning's ride.

Dinner: Dinner on own and time to explore Snowmass Village.

Evening: Free to enjoy the hotel facilities pool or walk around Snowmass Village

Breakfast: Breakfast buffet Stonebridge Inn

Morning: We start this morning with the grandchildren and staff beginning the popular Family Tree Activity. Then the entire group will bus to the town of Aspen and ride up the Aspen Mountain Gondola. We hike above treeline amongst fields of wildflowers and learn about and experience the natural history of the area.

Lunch: Box lunch

Afternoon: We walk through the downtown of Aspen from the Gondola Base to a pleasant park along the Roaring Fork Creek and the site of the John Denver Sanctuary where we will spend some time.

Dinner: We will eat this evening at the Rodeo Grounds

Evening: We will enjoy the weekly Snowmass Rodeo featuring events for all ages to enjoy.

Raft Trip on the Roaring Fork River

Breakfast: Breakfast buffet Stonebridge Inn

Morning: Raft depending on water levels, the Roaring Fork or Colorado River with naturalists floating through canyons, and wildlife-birding habitats.

Lunch: Lunch will be served on the banks of the Colorado River.

Afternoon: Mid-afternoon we return to Snowmass Village. The grandchildren and staff will complete the Family Tree Activity. Prior to dinner, we all gather for presentation by grandchildren to the adults of the completed Family Tree and then have closing activities by all.

Dinner: Buffet Stonebridge Inn

Evening: Special evening closing activity
