¿Hablas español? If you’ve always dreamed of learning to speak Spanish or just want to brush up on your conversational skills, this 10-day, online learning adventure is the perfect way to begin! Under the tutelage of language instructors live from Seville, Spain, attend more than 10 hours of beginner-level instruction that will introduce you to the phrases, verbs and keywords you need to know in order to start your Spanish language journey. You’ll also have opportunities to practice your new skills during interactive sessions with your fellow Road Scholars, and will get a look into daily life in Seville as local experts offer their knowledge of Spain’s history and modern culture during engaging presentations and lectures.

General Notes

This program spans 12 days but includes 10 days of content, as we will be off for the weekend. All materials will be provided. Your online program will include 2-3 hours of daily instruction, discussion and/or field trips. Please review the daily itinerary for start and end times to ensure you won’t miss a minute of this live and in person experience. This live online experience is through Zoom, an easy-to-use web video service. All you need is an Internet connection and your computer. We’ll provide a how-to guide to make sure you’ll have a hassle-free experience. This session is offered live only and will not be available on demand.

She has taught Spanish to foreigners for ten years and has extensive experience with study abroad programs and Road Scholar groups. She is interested in learning about new cultures and people and sharing her wide knowledge of Spanish language and culture.

She is of Spanish-Cuban/American origin and splits her time between homes in Miami and Seville. Participants love Sofia's vitality and high energy, in addition to the wealth of cultural and historical information that she brings to each and every program that she leads.

Covadonga Hortal is passionate about education travel and has always wanted to specialize in the field. Covadonga graduated from University with a degree in tourism and moved to the UK after graduation in order to improve her language skills. Back in Spain, Ms. Hortal led her first travel program in 1999 and continues to enjoy leading groups. She is a certified English teacher, speaks fluent Spanish, some French, and is currently learning Chinese. In Covadonga's free time, she enjoys learning about other cultures.
