Getting on/off an amphibious vehicle. Walking up to 3 miles throughout the day on a variety of terrain.
At the hotel, we will have a breakfast buffet including breakfast meats, a variety of eggs, pastries and spreads, yogurt, cereal, and fruit, plus coffee, tea, assorted juices, and water.
We’ll set out on a panoramic field trip exploring Lisbon by land and by water aboard an amphibious vehicle featuring commentary from boat staff. Is it a bus? Is it a boat? It’s both! From the comfort of our seats, we’ll ride through the streets of Portugal’s capital and the water of the Tagus River. We’ll then visit the Lisbon Story Center with our Group Leader and use audio guides to learn the history of Portugal’s capital through interactive exhibits. From its founding to the present day, we will learn about the myths and legends, major city events and their protagonists, and how the city developed to its modern form.
This meal has been excluded from the program cost and is on your own to enjoy what you like. The Group Leader will be happy to offer suggestions.
We’ll continue to Lisbon’s old city for a photo challenge, capturing memories of some of Portugal’s oldest streets and famous buildings with your grandchild. As we explore the city, work together with your grandchild to capture photos on cell phones or other personal cameras. The remainder of the afternoon is on your own to see and do what interests you most.
At a local restaurant, we’ll have a three-course plated meal with coffee, tea, water, soft drinks, and wine included.
