At a Glance

The word “Burren” comes from the Irish word “boireann” meaning “place of stone.” And after just one step into this part of Ireland, you’ll realize that no other place is as aptly named. With lunar-like landscapes of limestone and craggy cliffs towering above the sea, a hike through the Burren will seem like a voyage into another planet. Yet just a quick hop across the Galway Bay and a completely different world exists – one with hidden beaches and lush fields. Translating to “inlets of the sea,” Connemara is a botanist’s paradise, home to the most extensive areas of blanket bogs in Europe and ¾ of Ireland’s plant species. Alongside expert naturalists, spend a week hiking through two starkly different yet equally magnificent landscapes as you immerse yourself in the beautiful biodiversity of Ireland.
