This was my seventh RS program and my first disappointment. Poorly developed program. No leadership or organization. No expert presenters although all staff was pleasant. Favorite part was the one and only field trip through Amish country with an Amish guide. We then had dinner at an Amish home, which was very nice. Although Black Rock boasts a rope course, zip line, water trampoline, etc., they did not have sufficient staff to allow us to use them. After numerous requests, we were finally given 1/2 hour on the water slide and lake which the kids loved. This is a camp hosting hundreds of guests at a time—a very atypical venue for RS. In fairness, staff didn’t seem to be aware of RS standards or what would be expected of them. There was no Group Leader. No tee shirt or trinket gift for the kids to take home. I know of 3 kids who got sick. No hand sanitizer in dining room. I can not recommend this program.
