This was a wonderful first RS trip. Our guide was excellent and very knowledgeable; I know that some of the special experiences that we had (lunch in a lighthouse, for example) were due to her love of her native Newfoundland and her desire to show us the very best it has to offer. We learned a great deal about the history of the area, and met the most remarkably kind and friendly people. Finally, as my friend said, the views everywhere were so incredible that she felt the beauty was almost overwhelming. In all, it was just wonderful and I would love to come back to St. John's someday; eating poutine and fish and chips at home is NOT the same!

This was an absolutely delightful adventure in a stunningly beautiful location. Newfoundland was brand new to me, and I loved every aspect of it! The dramatic coastlines are simply breathtaking, and the countless little coves incredibly charming. Our lectures were fascinating. The restaurant meals were delicious and in very atmospheric venues. We did a lot of walking in St John's, which is filled with colour and culture, and across the most splendid countryside, with excellent weather (early September). Our tour director Eleanor was wonderful, and I really enjoyed the many stimulating conversations I had with the other travelers, a great group. I recommend this adventure most highly. I definitely plan to take more Road Scholar trips!

A unique insight into the history and culture of Canada and North America.
