Munich is a wonderful city. I only wish the trip had been "City Walks" as advertised, rather than 40% of the time on long field trips outside the town. I also missed the educational content of most Road Scholar trips. I took the trip during the 2019 Oktoberfest, and the Oktoberfest visit was one of the highlights. We went during the day, rather than at night, when the crowds are reputed to be rowdier. We also went on "Children's day" which made it especially entertaining. If I had stuck with the planned itinerary, I would have missed the Deutsche Museum, which would have been a pity, as it is a superb museum. I spent the whole day there, and only saw about half of it. I wish the trip had included other activities in the city, such as a walk through the English Garden, which I did not manage to get to. The hotel was on the outskirts of the city, but the excellent mass transit system--especially the trams--made finding my way around easy. Our tour of the Alte Pinakotek was enhanced by the knowledge of the guide, who really knew art history and helped me find the paintings I especially wanted to see.
