Vienna is one of the world's great cities. And this program is a great way to get to know it. Just remember to bring good walking shoes.

The tour of the Vienna Neighborhoods can be described in one word: MAGICAL! I could live here at least a portion of the year. Music, history, culture, food, people, art, transportation. I could go on and on...

Waltzes, Wurstl, Walking and Wien: Wunderbar! There is no better way to explore a European city than by foot. Winding alleys laden with flower-bedecked windows, cobblestone paths, historic buildings, parks, statues, restaurants and objects await the intrepid pedestrian. Led by local experts, the history and culture is revealed. On your own time, ride horse-drawn carriages, visit the many museums and art galleries, enjoy the world-renowned Viennese cuisine, from the simple Wiener Wurstl at the ever-present sidewalk stands, or enjoy a slice of the world-famous Sachertorte at the hotel for which it was named. Coffee shops abound - another Viennese trademark - and the variety is astounding! Try the melange with schlagobers (whipped cream), and the Kaiserschmarrn (shredded pancakes with plum pudding and powdered sugar) while you sip. From the interior of the St. Stephen's cathedral (Stephansdom) to the overlooking vista of the Wienerwald (Vienna Woods), this is not only a treat for the soul, but also for the body!

This is a very nice tour for those who like a good walk through a city with a knowledgeable guide. You'll walk away with a better understanding of Vienna and memories of what you saw and heard during the walks. The free afternoons and evenings allows you to pick places and activities that particularly interest you. The Road Scholar staff are always ready to offer suggestions if you haven't already picked out something to do on a free afternoon or evening.

There's mo better way to experience a city than to do so on foot.

The Vienna neighborhoods walking excursion is a perfect immersion into this magnificent city and its history, as well as a healthy experience, all for a very reasonable price. The guides are exceptionally talented and knowledgeable. Just what you have a right to expect from Road Scholar.

Just the right balance of instructor guided walks and free time. I was very comfortable as a solo traveler. This program has truly enriched my love of Vienna, and exceeded my expectations!

So much history, art and music! Even with all the information we were provided with and all the experiences and free time, a week was only an introduction.

The program Walking Tours of Vienna was a great program. Anyone interested in Austria, and esp. Vienna, would enjoy this program. The instructor was very, very good. Because this program was so good, I may decide to do another Road Scholar program in the future.
