I wanted to learn some Spanish (beginner's level, although the School offers learning at any level) as well as at the same time learn about the many facets of Ecuadorian culture, and that's what I got in spades! I was impressed by the beauty of Ecuador, the friendliness of the people, and the pride they have in showing off their country and culture. I found all meals and accommodations to be much more than satisfactory, and, for me, the duration of the trip, i.e., six weeks, was just right. I would have liked that Galapagos section at the end of the trip provided more touring options but I am confident that Road Scholar will strive to make this part of the journey truly the cherry on the top of a wonderfully delicious cake for all participants. And before you consider this trip, as always, make sure you have a talk with your doctor about any health issues, including the possibility of increased bloop pressure at high altitudes.

Five stars !!! This is a terrific trip and I highly recommend it. Road Scholar did an excellent job coordinating the trip and choosing interesting places to visit and lovely places to stay. The guides were incredible and all the excursions were filled with great information. This trip gives an excellent overview of Ecuador with the exception of the Oriente, which we did not visit. Ecuador and Cuenca are wonderful. The accommodations were excellent at every location. The Suites in Cuenca are perfectly located and modern. The Spanish language school and teachers are excellent. I would strongly suggest Road Scholar provide an option for private lessons at an additional cost. The 9 of us had a wide range of Spanish skills and 2 groups / levels of classes were not adequate. After several weeks, a 3rd class was provided which was most helpful. All 3 teachers were exceptional. I suggest participants arrive 1 or 2 days prior to the start of the program. I suggest Road Scholar extend the stay in the Galapagos for 1-2 days as there is so much to see there. This trip was fabulous, 5 stars !
