I checked off hiking Machu Picchu from my bucket list but this program was so much more. It fueled my curiosity about the Inca culture and I ended up buying 3 books on them before I left. I fully intend to do another program on the Incas and their influence on South America

This trip was the experience of a lifetime! All of the instructors were engaging, funny, informative, and answered everyone's questions. Despite a significant weather delay at the Lima airport, our leader, Enrique, managed to rearrange a few activities so we did not miss out on anything. I would highly recommend this program!

The trip exceeded my expectations with the many cultural experiences beyond what I knew would be a life changing visit to Machu Picchu. The group leaders and instructors were stellar - professional, knowledgeable, friendly - with a passion for Peru that was infectious. The program is a great value with many experiences packed into seven days. I came back with new knowledge about the Incas and pre-Incan peoples, the modern day Sacred Valley, cosmopolitan Lima, Andean weaving traditions, Peruvian food and music, and the beautiful Andes and Peruvian coast.

A wonderful trip! Varied learning opportunities, varied contexts--coast, highlands. The gem of course was Machu Picchu but the last day in Cusco at Qorikancha was icing on the cake. Be sure to take poncho for rain and trekking pole for rocky walks! So much is included in Road Scholar trips, logistical ease for participants.

My life-long dream of visiting Machu Picchu was realized in December 2017 with a brilliantly organized Road Scholar trip. The planning from start to finish took into consideration altitudes and stamina of group members. I learned about the country and history of Peru and enjoyed the excellent cuisine.

This was a wonderful program, from the efficiency of the logistics, the great food and accommodations and most importantly, the lectures, guides and sites visited. I can mark off a long term bucket list item as complete - visiting Machu Picchu.

I'm more likely to do my next international trip with Road Scholar than on my own-- and to date I've always enjoyed arranging trips on my own. Every day was fantastic so I'll talk about 1 example. Gustavo "Tito" Leon did a musical instrument presentation in Cuzco. I never imagined that he was going to be able to play ALL of the few dozen instruments that he had on display at the start of his presentation! I'm sad that I ran out of storage on my phone after 10 minutes of filming, and that the same thing happened to 2 other family members' phones during Tito's presentation. This was one gem that there's no way I'd have stumbled into on my own with any amount of research.

I so enjoyed this trip because of the diversity of cultural events and the fast pace of the activities. This was not all about Machu Picchu although that was surely a special part of the experience. The logistics of this trip were complex: internal flights, trains and buses (including program changes due to the 10-year census!). But Vlad, our tour leader handled it all seamlessly. Our group was terrific; the included single supplement was a nice bonus.

Don't miss this trip! Peru is wonderful and the Andes are magnificent. Our days were packed with interesting visits and lectures. Great accommodations, great food and I very much appreciated the efforts of our leader and guide to make this such a great tour -- the best I've ever been on!

This is an outstanding program. The program interplay of history, culture, food, and site visits is fantastic. You will come away with a great appreciation for the history and people of Peru. And when you finally get to Macchu Picchu, you will have a great appreciation for what it is, AND all the pictures do not do adequately reveal the wonder of actually being there in person!!!

The Taste of Peru Program was wonderful. I learned so much about the culture, saw things I had dreamed about and made new friends. One of the best parts was that everything was included and the money I brought with me I spent on treasures to bring home. Did I mention how engaging the leaders and guides were? Also, the food was amazing! I would take this adventure again and look forward to going more places with Road Scholar

This program is a wonderful way to learn about the diverse cultures of Peru and the social and economic history of the country. It is a great way to see from large cities to small villages and the Incan ruins at Machu Picchu, Huaca Puellana, Pisac, Moray, and Sacsayhuaman.

This program provides a depth and breadth of information, activities and experiences that one could not achieve on one’s own. I enjoyed the diversity of Peru, its people, geography, culture, history and gastronomy. My experience was enriched by the insights shared by the professional guides and lecturers. Thank you Road Scholar for designing and developing this comprehensive cultural experience and for providing knowledgeable professionals who add so much to the informative content.

This visit to Peru is amazing! The depth and breadth of sites and ecosystems visited, information shared by our guides, and foods eaten on this trip far surpassed expectation. Our group ranged in age from 43 to 94--not an easy task for the leaders to manage, but their consummate professionalism and dedication to our experience ensured everyone was considered. I have already encouraged my parents to sign up for this itinerary (and the same guides, if possible) next year.

A most excellent program! We fulfilled a long time desire to visit Peru and especially Machu Picchu and learned a lot in the process. Our small group was great! The entire program was well planned with every detail taken care of. This was our first Road Scholar trip but will not be our last.

This amazing program , so capably led by Vladimir Del Solar Meza, not only fulfilled my life-time dream of being at Machu Picchu, but gave me a richly contextual understanding of the Incas and Peru. I strongly recommend the program, and especially going to Peru in late April, before the heavy tourist season.

The program, Perspectives of Peru, exceeded my expectations. It was fantastic! The group leader was very knowledgable and caring. I felt safe and secure going on my first tour alone. The others in the group were interesting and friendly. The places I went and experiences I had were well worth the money and so much fun. I enjoyed the mix of learning and site seeing. I'm richer for the many unique experiences of my trip.
