Lunch: This meal has been excluded from the program cost and is on your own to enjoy what you like. The Group Leader will be happy to offer suggestions and give directions.

Afternoon: Upon arrival at the hotel, you are welcome to store luggage until check-in is available. The Group Leader will be on hand to provide assistance as needed. Then take some time to freshen up and relax before Orientation. We will gather in the hotel lobby for the program orientation at 5:30 PM. The Group Leader will greet everyone and lead introductions. We will review the program theme, the up-to-date Daily Schedule and any changes, discuss safety guidelines, emergency procedures, roles and responsibilities, and answer any questions you may have. We have set aside free time in the schedule for your personal independent exploration. Please be aware that program activities, schedules, and personnel may need to change due to local circumstances. In the event of changes, we will alert you as quickly as possible. Thank you for your understanding.

Dinner: Welcome dinner at a local restaurant to include a 3-course meal including wine, coffee, tea, water.

Evening: At leisure. Continue getting to know your fellow participants, settle in, and get a good night’s rest for the day ahead.

Breakfast: In the hotel dining room. On this program, breakfasts will offer a typical European style breakfast buffet with breads, cheeses, cold-cuts, yogurt, fruit, cereals, juice, milk, coffee, tea and water.

Morning: The coach departs the hotel for a panoramic overview of London's monuments and most famous sights. Your London expert continues a discussion of the city's history, as well as its architecture throughout the ages.

Lunch: Enjoy an authentic London pub lunch. Pubs — public houses — are an institution hearkening back to the Roman era. Our menu today is traditional fish and chips and dessert. Water, tea or coffee is also included.

Afternoon: Following lunch, we'll trace the history of London and its people from prehistoric to modern times at the Museum of London. We learn about the capital's turbulent past, we see how the city changed under Romans and Saxons, we wonder at medieval London and examine the tumultuous years when London was ravaged by civil wars, plague and fire. In the Galleries of Modern London where we walk the streets of Victorian London, take a stroll in recreated pleasure gardens and marvel at the magnificent Lord Mayor's Coach.

Dinner: Explore local fare on your own.

Breakfast: In the hotel dining room.

Morning: After check-out, transfer via private coach to the Tower of London. On this field trip, absorb over 1000 years of history and learn about Great Britain's dramatic and fascinating past. Get up close to the Crown Jewels, the symbol of the monarchy's power and status.

Lunch: At a local pub.

Afternoon: After lunch, transfer to the port in Tilbury to embark the Aegean Odyssey. Take some time to settle in to your cabin, freshen up, and relax. Following embarkation there will be a safety briefing provided by the ship’s staff followed by a brief orientation to the ship by your Road Scholar Group Leader. This is preliminarily scheduled for 5:00 PM, but your Group Leader will confirm timings once on board the ship.

Dinner: Aboard the ship, you may choose from either the Marco Polo Restaurant or the Terrace Café on board. The former serves a variety of á là carte items while the café is buffet-style. Menus are inspired by fresh local ingredients. Wine is complimentary with dinner in both dining areas.

Evening: At leisure. Most evenings aboard ship are free to enjoy as you like whether it’s attending a shipboard guest lecture or listening to live music in the Charleston Lounge.

Afternoon: An expert-led field trip introduces you to the tiny island of Heimaey – it is only four miles long – your first port of call in Iceland. Heimaey was devastated by the eruption of the Eldfell volcano in 1973, which destroyed over 400 buildings and deposited 200 million tons of ash and lava on the landscape. This catastrophic event is commemorated in the captivating museum, Eldheimar, meaning “worlds of fire,” which opened in 2014.

Thingvellir is Iceland’s most important historical site and area of outstanding natural beauty.

Founded in the 10th century, it is considered to be one of the oldest capitals in Northern Europe. Learn about the Faroes during a visit to the History Museum.

Morning: Disembark and transfer via private coach to London for a field trip to Westminster Abbey. The Abbey is a living pageant of British history; learn about kings, queens, statesmen and soldiers, poets, priests, heroes and villains. The Abbey has been the coronation church since 1066 and is the final resting place of seventeen monarchs. The present church, begun by Henry III in 1245, is one of the most important Gothic buildings in the country, with the medieval shrine of an Anglo-Saxon saint still at its heart.

Lunch: Farewell lunch at a local pub.

Afternoon: Transfer to the hotel. The remainder of the day is free for you to see and do more of what interests you most.
