The Best of Cuba is an excellent program with visits to a number of cities and a wealth of interactive activies with Cubans. Highly recommended.

This Cuba trip was an excellent educational experience for me and my wife. I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in Latin America in general and Cuba in specific.

I typically travel independently, but Road Scholar showed me that tours are great and very informative. Thanks Road Scholar for opening my eyes to how nice it is to join a tour group and more travel opportunity's .

What I saw about life in Cuba beset me with thought about human values, and it still does. This alone made the trip there invaluable.

If you like to learn and want to expand your understanding about a different culture and political system than the US, this program is for you. An amazing amount to take in and absorb. Left me with a real desire to learn more about Cuba and Cubans and to travel there again. And the logistics, accommodations and programs were all first rate.

This was one of the most interesting trips I have taken. I was impressed at the beauty of Cuba as well as how clean and comfortable it was. Cubans were very open and friendly and we were welcomed wherever we went. The local guide was extremely knowledgeable and found a good balance of the good and what could be improved. There was a big diversity of activities and people we met which made it very interesting; we were never bored. If you are thinking about a trip to Cuban, I would strongly suggest this one.

Generally a good experience ! Travel out of your comfort zone helps you realize that the more different we think we are..... the more we are alike and share the same challenges in life ! John from Wi. USA

Best of Cuba: People, Life and Culture - Camaguey to Havana was fabulous experience balancing arts, history, rationing information and ranch experiences with the right amount of free time. Two of four hotels were located in the center of town which made exploration available outside our front doors. The other two hotels were a unique rural cabin location for birders and the legendary hotel of Havana. Quality experience which was a good use of time and money, led by a Group Leader and Instructor who made it all flow easily.

with regard to the program, the Best of Cuba: People, Life and Culture: Camaguey to Havana, it is sometimes easy to forget that quasi-dictatorships, as in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Cuba, contain some very nice people who I, for one, would welcome as neighbors in the USA. Road Scholar programs make the people easy to meet and to talk to (if you can speak the language - though, happily, many in all of those countries speak English). Well worth the time to travel there and meet those people.

Outstanding program! If you want to go to Cuba with a group, this is the one. It would be hard to beat this trip for education, culture, art, music, dance and mojitos!

I expected that this program would be more restrictive than it was, and that the people-to-people segments would be highly-orchestrated and not very engaging. WOW, was I wrong. Enjoyed time to go walking on my own in each city, and the people-to-people sessions were engaging and informative. This is a great opportunity to see and learn about an important neighbor.

A well constructed itinerary to see Cuba (our group thought it was best to start in the countryside and end in Havana). Lots of activities. Pretty much everything is covered.

I recently participated in the RS trip-"The Best of Cuba-Camaguey to Havana". The trip was terrific and I enjoyed all the cultural events thoroughly. I loved listening to the musicians everywhere we went, loved the food and the people, and came away from my trip having learned a great deal about Cuba, the people, the history, and Cuba-American relations. All in all, I loved this experience and consider it one of my favorite trips!

David

This 10 day tour of Cuba was enlightening and extremely well presented. My wife and I enhanced our understanding of the issues between USA and Cuba.

The best of Cuba may arguably be one of the best "Group tours" I have been on. As a traveler who preps for every trip, I feel that I learned a lot, clarified misconceptions I had formed. I am not aware of the educational philosophy of Road Scholar on other tours. This people to people format seems to me the best way to go to know a country and its people.

This is an excellent program enhanced by the encounters we had with the people of Cuba. While I normally shy away from bus type tours, the amount of bus travel was quite manageable and allowed us to visit a variety of locations. I highly recommend it.

This trip to Cuba was great. The leader Marialina ranks at the top of all of our 16 Road Scholar trips. Her English skills to superb, she was extremely professional able to be warm and friendly but firm when needed, and her knowledge of Cuba was encyclopedic.

My husband and I just returned from a 10-day tour exploring the Best of Cuba:People Life and Culture:Camarguey to Havana. I highly recommend this trip to anyone who wants to visit this beautiful island and learn more about its talented, resourceful and friendly people. I can best describe this experience as life-changing.

If you want to be exposed to people who are "resolvers" -- don't moan and groan about life's challenges, just find resolutions -- then this is the program for you. Understanding Cuba by being there is so relevant in today's politics and makes you wonder about policies of the last 50 years. We could learn from their educational and health care focus.

10 Days in Cuba that Changed my View of the World: The trip to Cuba was a revelation in terms of seeing a vibrant culture that was struggling with the conflict between the socialist system and a free enterprise model. The people were warm and welcoming and the culture was exciting.

I have traveled with other tour groups, and I was delighted to say that Road Scholar provided the best opportunities to enjoy the country I chose to explore. The amount of structured time and free time was a good balance. The quality of all experiences and facilities was outstanding. I highly recommend that you visit Cuba with Road Scholar and explore trips to other countries with them!

After cautioning participants to be flexible, Road Scholar staff do a good job of providing clean and comfortable accommodations, air-conditioned buses, satisfying food, and a variety of experiences to learn about today's Cuba. Karen

Best educational trip that I have ever taken, presented by guides who were knowledgable and passionate about Cuba. I learned more in 12 days than I knew in 70 years. Highly recommend this trip!

James

This was a great experience that showed much of the island and the culture in the urban and some rural areas. We were pleased to see the strength of education and training in the arts (music, dance, sculpture, painting, parades, etc.) that is supported and shared by the public.

Linda

Our trip to Cuba with Roadscholar was excellent. We had excellent guides, Paula and Elias and Alfredo- our bus driver in Cuba. We want to do the trip again, and spend even more time in Cuba! thank you Roadscholar for giving us a life time adventure to Cuba!

Linda
(5)

Just returned from my first trip with Roads Scholar. This was a 2 week trip to Cuba. In those two weeks we traveled to many different parts of the country learning about the people and their culture along the way. The accommodations were all very good, clean and comfortable. The bus we traveled in was very clean and comfortable. The Cubans are very excited to see that the Americans from the US are traveling to their country again. You do have to go into this knowing that Cuba is still in the category of a third world country. If poverty bothers you, this may not be your best choice. But if you are ready to go into the trip with your eyes wide open to anything you will not be disappointed. A beautiful country with beautiful people. Never was afraid to be out walking without our group or guides. A place everyone should put on their bucket list. D it soon before it all changes.

I went on this trip because some friends said they were going and would I like to come, too. I said yes and thoroughly enjoyed myself, being with my friends and learning all about Cuba. The trip could not have been better. It was worth every minute and every dollar spent.

This trip helped me understand American-Cuban relations from a perspective not typically shared in the U.S. The Cuban people are very gracious, friendly and very gifted in the arts. I am extremely pleased with my experiences in Cuba.

The People to People Program in Cuba is a wonderful experience which resulted in broadening my perspectives about our close neighbor as well as bout my own country (USA). The people, music, food, openness and enthusiasm of Cuba are incredible!

Mary

A fascinating program with a strong people-to-people connection! You will meet many artisans, dancers, painters and musicians as you visit both the rural parts of Cuba and the urban cities, and see Cuba with your own eyes. You will also gain an appreciation for the culture and history of the island. I highly recommend this program (and the food is fantastic!)

Kathy

I loved my trip to Cuba, but I suggest that older participants go for 7 days instead of 11 days. I came home exhausted but happy.

Jane

A trip of a lifetime, so rewarding to step back in time and see a beautiful country up close and personal. Seeing Cuba first hand helped explain some of the problems the country has experienced through history. A definite trip to put on your Bucket List.

Great trip to a historic island with people who are very proud and happy to live in Cuba.

The trip to Cuba was excellent: group leaders, varied activities, lectures, participants. The Cuba people are wonderful and very welcoming to tourists from the United States. I highly recommend this Road Scholar trip. You will return as enthusiastic as I am about Cuba and its people.

My wife and I recently completed a 10-day "people-to-people" experience led by Alex and Elias in Cuba. It was a thoroughly wonderful and insightful trip. We began in rural, eastern Cuba and throughout the trip headed west and into a more modern Cuba. Each of our interactions, demonstrations or performances were superb. We highly recommended this experience.

Janice

This was my first trip with Road Scholar. I chose their program to Cuba because it had all the features I was seeking. Road Scholar far exceeded my expectations! I am so looking forward to my next trip with them to another part of the world!

William
(5)

I would encourage everyone to visit Cuba with Road Scholar. This was an excellent tour and provided excellent information, exposure, and and hands-on experiences with the Cuban people. The Cuban people are so encouraging to me as they are extremely happy and have the ability to separate politics and people. They were so positive towards the US. I am so hopeful that in the coming years their borders will be open and they can keep their unique perspective about life.

Melrose
(5)

We were so glad that we decided on the 11-day program... it gave an in-depth people-to-people experiences that we would not have experienced if we had decided on a cruise.I would highly recommend this program. Road scholar's trip coordinators/group leaders were very capable/knowledgeable of topics...Food was excellent but could have improved by serving reduced portions to avoid waste....

Robert

This is an outstanding introduction to the island of Cuba, its history, and its people. It is a perfect balance of sightseeing, education, and cultural immersion.

Bill
(5)

This superbly-organized and beautifully-executed program will open up Cuba's reality to you, by actively promoting an intense person-to-person experience and a wide range of cultural and intellectual experiences. A wonderful introduction to the country, led by intelligent, involved and extremely enjoyable personnel - this was my first tour ever, and it couldn't have been better!

Marlene
(5)

This was a well organized diversified opportunity to experience a country that is relatively unknown to most of us - its history, culture, its successes, failures and hopes. Knowledgeable, committed staff educated us and seamlessly arranged for our compatible and interesting group to have direct contact with people engaged in varied aspects of Cuban life.

David
(5)

Our trip to Cuba was one I would strongly recommend to anyone thinking about such a trip. Road Scholar is very organized and helpful each step along the way. A great way to travel.

Janet
(5)

This trip exceeded my expectations. Cuba is so much more than vintage cars, cigars, baseball and rum! They are all wonderful, of course, but through Road Scholar you will enjoy the mosaic that is Cuba; it is a study in contrast---complex and complicated yet extremely friendly, safe, and vibrant. Art, music, dance, and food are an adventure. Be flexible and enjoy the ride!

Beverly
(5)

First time I've ever taken an organized tour and it was excellent - would do it again with Road Scholar.

Jane
(5)

Road Scholar's program in Cuba is second to none. We had access to many unique educational and fun experiences that would not have been available to those travelling on their own. At times, we love travelling on adventures by ourselves but I would highly recommend booking (at least) your first trip to Cuba with Road Scholar to experience an insider's view of Cuba, it's people and it's culture. Truly an unforgettable experience!

Evelyn

What a truly remarkable experience!

Marion

Road Scholar has put together an EXCELLENT program for those who want to meet and learn about our Cuban neighbors. This program introduces the participant to Cuban music, art, and dance as well as meeting the people in their homes and at their jobs. Visiting with the Cuban people was a real delight. I am inspired to learn more and return someday.

Angel
(5)

I thought I was well aware of the Cuban situation. I was mistaken; what an eye opener. The new knowledge came adorned with music, dancing , food, and a very upbeat Cuban people. Great trip.

Ted

This program gets you to rural and urban areas of Cuba. This is a wonderful time to visit and see the entrepreneurial spirit of the people getting to run their small businesses as paladars and casa particulars. The Cuban people are wonderful to interact with. A great value

I just returned from the 12 d. tour of Cuba. It was a memorable trip to a remarkable country. I highly recommend this tour now and then return in a few years - after the American embargo is lifted.

David
(5)

The trip to Cuba was fantastic, a chance to see the country and meet some of the people, many face to face, before any dramatic changes take place as the country is opened more and more to the United States. As usual fellow Road Scholar participants were terrific, always a friendly and very inquisitive group of fellow travelers.

Brendan

If you're seeking an indepth introduction into Cuban history, architecture, music, and culture, this is the trip for you. The opportunity to spend time in four different cities is a big advantage. Every day brought information, satisfying experiences, and an element of surprise.

(5)

This program is the best way to get to know Cuba. It is educational, informative, interesting, interactive, and a lot of fun.I never would have seen or visited the various sites that this program included had I traveled on my own.I highly recommend Road Scholar and "The Best of Cuba: People, Life and Culture" Program.

William
(5)

This is the most complete program if ANYONE is interested in learning about the Cuban people, culture, and politics. It is the only program to truly inmerse you into understanding the lovely people of Cuba and their efforts to exist as a nation.........Bill S

Bev
(5)

Very well organized, food was plentiful and very good.... some of it was almost "art like", eating places were like high end restaurants. Very well organized field trips and presentations..... music everywhere. Leaders kept track of us, so we didn't get lost, were concerned about our well being.

Nancy
(5)

Look no further! Road Scholar cannot possibly be beat with its organizational skills, contact, follow up, programs, guides, speakers, variety, and your individual safety.

Steven
(5)

If,A COMFORTABLE HOTEL MATTRESS AND A HOT SHOWER ARE VERY IMPORTANT TO YOU, AND LACK THEREOF WILL NMAKE YOU MISERABLE, THIS IS NOT THE TRIP FOR YOU. However, If YOU HAVE AN OPEN MIND AND WANT TO LISTEN TO PEOPLE AND EXPLORE A DIFFERENT CULTURE AND LIFESTYLE, THEN THIS TRIP IS A WINNER.

Bland
(5)

The Best of Cuba is a great opportunity. I recommend it to anyone with an open mind.

Lorraine
(5)

The evaluation form was a little bit long but otherwise comprehensive and easy to use.

Claudia
(5)

If you're a single and enjoy travel and meeting welcoming and friendly people, don't hesitate to join a Road Scholar trip. They make it so easy to travel alone, because you're never really alone. Most fellow travelers are warm, open, and interested in meeting new people, you included.

Sallie
(5)

Our experience on this first RS trip exceeded our expectations. RS group leader, Cuban tour leader, and the various local guides were all tops. A chance to gain broad understanding of Cuba; see the reason that completely dropping the embargo would be so meaningful to Cuban people; and chances to interact with the people are all reasons to take this trip. All of our group is concerned about the effects of mass influx of tourists may have on Cuba, which is stressed in terms of resources - both water, housing and maybe food - though that was harder to determine as meals provided were tasty and beyond plentiful. Seeing the juxtaposition of beautifully restored 16th cent and colonial buildings with ones falling completely apart gives one pause. Music, dance, good food, and very, very welcoming people are all reasons to head for Cuba soon!

Sandra
(5)

Amazing is the first word that comes to mind re my recent 10 days in Cuba. My lifelong dream to make this visit was perfect in every way and really enhanced by the Roads Scholar tour lead and our local Cuban guide. They were a great team, effortlessly keeping us on track. Each day was an adventure! And my travel companions were delightful!

Marilyn
(4)

This was an exciting and very meaningful trip. Interacting with the Cuban people was such a delight and helped me better understand the history of Cuba, it's strong and welcoming people and some of their dreams for the future. My life has sincerely been touched by the wonderful experience and the warmth of the Cuban people. I hope to return as a tourist to help celebrate more opportunities for the Cuban people once the embargo is lifted and they have more opportunities for their future.

Kathryn
(5)

I highly recommend this program as an introduction to Cuba. Our daily People-to-People connections were a highlight for me. Since returning to the US, our will contribute to funding travel for the Cienfuegos choral group to attend an international festival in Missoula this summer. And I'm working on supporting his first trip to the US for our OnCuba speaker. Building small bridges one plank at a time.

Alison
(5)

I loved our "people to people" program in Cuba. We had a fantastic Cuban guide, and met many interesting and informative people as part of the program. The music, dance and art is world class, and we were able to meet and talk with some of those artists.
