A great experience on a small riverboat on the Amazon and Rio Negro Rivers. Good combination of canoe trips led by expert naturalists, diversity of land stops and interaction with indigenous people, and comfortable berths with great meals of local delicacies. Well led by Wolf and we were lucky to be part of an entertaining group of fellow passengers. Wildlife, especially birds of many species unseen in U.S., was the highlight. Active and challenging for all.

Excellent experience. Our group was small (24) and compatible. The staff and crew were exceptionally friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious and the tour guides (Wolf and Clewilson (sp?)) were knowledgeable about their specialties. From Wolf we sighted lots of birds and from Cle we learned some of the folklore of the local people and were introduced to the plants of the Amazonas. I appreciated the excursions, especially the evenings that were so peaceful. The southerrn hemisphere sky the first part of the week was enchanting. Overall, an organized and informative trip, as well as being fun!

Excellent trip! We saw and learned so much - and it was nice to be "unplugged" for a week. The riverboat is comfortable and the staff are outstanding, as is the food. Wolf, our guide, is very knowledgeable and obviously loves the region and shares both with enthusiasm. We especially enjoyed the early morning and night boat rides. I would recommend this without reservation!

Program itself was awesome, especially lead guide and ship staff. However, be careful in relying on Road Scholar template transparency.

What a wonderful experience to float down the Amazon and Rio Negro Rivers and see life as it has been for centuries! I learned so much about the nature in the Amazon Basin and the people of the Amazon Basin. Our guide was so knowledgeable and the riverboat adventure was wonderful. The food was outstanding on the riverboat and the crew were always there with a smile and whatever we needed.

This was a really wonderful trip. I had always wondered what the Amazon was like and now I know! Everyone on the trip really enjoyed themselves and I feel we all thought it was the trip of a life-time! Our guide (Wolf) was excellent and the staff on the boat were so eager to please...clean rooms and outstanding food. Can't say enough great things about the Amazon adventure! kn

A great week! Be prepared to perspire (sweat!!), get wet (from the humidity and "higher humidity"), see nature close up and appreciate the beauty of the Amazon basin and the people who inhabit it. No fancy dress needed.....just comfortable hiking shoes and comfortable clothes......oh....impermeable jacket a necessity! as well as a camera and good binoculars.

A great adventure into the Amazon Rain Forest. Saw a variety of ecosystems as the boat traveled the river. Enjoyed learning about the river people, the birds, and other wildlife.

Fantastic five star trip. I still cannot wrap my mind around the vastness of the Amazon River. This trip had something for everyone...birders, zoologist, sociologists, and botanists. The ship was a pleasure to be on, the food was great (dessert for breakfast, even), and the ship staff were always smiling and enjoyable to be around. Our guides, Christoph and Hugo, were a wealth of information and always ready to answer questions and provide assistance. We had mineral water on the ship and mineral water ice cubes, and all salads were rinsed in mineral water, so there is no concern there. Be sure to take hiking shoes with socks to tuck long pant legs into...the ants can be fierce. A folding walking stick is handy for jungle hikes. Some people took antimalarial medicine and some did not, so that is your choice...we did encounter some mosquitoes. You don't have to change your money into reals, since most vendors accepted dollars. It was all great fun, including Christoph's surprise outing. P.S Don't pee in the water.

We had a fabulous experience on the Amazon and Rio Negro Rivers - great field trips by boat and land to learn about birds and other wildlife. The Amazon Clipper Premium is a lovely small ship with comfortable accommodations and excellent food. The instructors were very good. It was definitely a quality event which we highly recommend.

Consider this trip a 'River Safari", or a very rich Field Trip on Rio Negro and its Jungle with surprise creatures on land, in water and in Air.

We took this trip as a three generation family of seven and every one of us learned a great deal, changed our perceptions of Amazonas completely. We had a grand time talking over our daily impressions at the round table on our vessel. The buffet meals also accommodated the age range in our family very well.

To help understand the ecology challenges our planet now faces, a trip up and down the Amazon with a sensitive and compassionate guide is an excellent primer.

This program exceeded our expectations. The group leader was exceptional, the ship and its crew very welcoming and eager to serve us. The field trips were wonderful, and although I was dreading the early (5:30 am) wakes, the quality of the trips were such that after the first two days I was looking forward to waking early and getting underway. High recommended if you enjoy adventure and the outdoors. The physical demands were well adjusted to the capabilities of the participants. I don't think anyone felt pushed too much or too little.
