We took this trip as a three generation family of seven and every one of us learned a great deal, changed our perceptions of Amazonas completely. We had a grand time talking over our daily impressions at the round table on our vessel. The buffet meals also accommodated the age range in our family very well.

To help understand the ecology challenges our planet now faces, a trip up and down the Amazon with a sensitive and compassionate guide is an excellent primer.

This program exceeded our expectations. The group leader was exceptional, the ship and its crew very welcoming and eager to serve us. The field trips were wonderful, and although I was dreading the early (5:30 am) wakes, the quality of the trips were such that after the first two days I was looking forward to waking early and getting underway. High recommended if you enjoy adventure and the outdoors. The physical demands were well adjusted to the capabilities of the participants. I don't think anyone felt pushed too much or too little.

This is a great trip for people that enjoy seeing nature up close. Viewing the flora and fauna of the Amazon rain forest while gliding along in a power canoe was a dream come true for me. I was impressed by the skill of the canoe operator to get use thru the flooded forest. Also the knowledge of our guides was great. Hugo was exceptional when it came to the nature of the rain forest and Wolf was great with the history of the area. I recommend this trip for anybody that wants to learn about the Amazon.

We spent time in the motorized canoes every day and some nights with spotlights; I never thought we would see the number of animals that we saw.

This program is fantastic! The early morning canoe trips, with the river and the jungle just awakening, are both fascinating and beautiful. If you're a birder, this is really a special trip, but you don't need to be a birding fanatic to enjoy it. And the Brazilian people are some of the friendliest I've encountered in many years of travel. One thing to beware - Road Scholar Travel Services (flight arrangements) could use some lessons in communication. But I'm so glad I chose this program!

This program is breathtakingly wonderful! Our primary guide and the boat team were exceptionally knowledgeable, gracious, talented and respectful towards each other and humble and respectful toward the nature and peoples of the Amazon Rainforest. The variety of activities were beautifully balanced between being out in nature and observing and participating in culture. The lectures were well-timed. The meals healthy, provided lots of vegetables and gorgeously presented. While the humidity is tough, the amount of time we were outdoors before being back in air conditioning was very doable and safe. Take this trip!

This was a wonderful tour! I loved the boat rides to spot wildlife in the early morning, cooler part of the morning and night rides through the flooded trees. The jungle and village walks were equally enjoyable - a nice combination of nature and culture. This is the first time I have experienced such hot and humid weather and rainstorms. This gives you a true appreciation of the area. Much to my surprise, there were no mosquitoes nor flies. I had taken too many long pants. Most days shorts were comfortable and appropriate. Just used long pants on jungle walks. Besides the wonderful daily outings, the ship was very comfortable and fabulous local food.

The Heart of the Amazon is an opportunity to see and experience one of the wonders of this earth. The immensity of the region cannot be imagined until one sees it. And on this trip we journeyed through a small part of it, but enough to know how very special all of Amazon region really is. It also makes one realize how precious "nature" is and how we need to be better stewards of the earth in our little corners. The boat was more comfortable than I imagined it would be; the guides were absolutely outstanding, bringing with them a global perspective of having lived and worked on a number of continents; the crew was extremely hospitable and they all were up to their various tasks. The waters and rain forests we journeyed through gave us a small insight into this magical region, but the liquid mystery of the Amazon and environs remains.

This was a lovely trip. It exceeded expectations for accommodations, food and experiential value. In addition, the heat, humidity and insects were all less than expected, especially when on the boat. All in all, a memorable trip.
