Small towns, lots of history/education, beautiful scenery - even in the rain - lovely co-travelers, and a smart, funny, warmly welcoming leader made made this an experience that exceeded expectations. (If you're traveling solo, though, emphasize getting a fair sized room.) Go for it!

Wonderful trip, much better than expected! Great leader.

Excellent program! I learned so much about Portugal and Spain. I wonder why more travelers I know haven't visited there. The people, the scenery, the history, the beauty of ancient buildings is worth the trip.

This was an excellent program with many sites to see, excellent guides. I learned alot. Accomodations were excellent and varied. We did some unusual things: a meal in a home; seeing a small cheese production and olive mill. I enjoyed the two music events: fado and flemenco, just for us.

(5)

What an enjoyable trip! The historic hotels on this trip were wonderful in design and location making us feel very pampered. We learned so much about the beautiful countries of Portugal and Spain from the lectures on their history to the Bullring in Ronda.

(5)

This was the trip of a lifetime that I never expected to experience!

(5)

Take this trip if you can. You will experience the past and present in delightful settings and come home astounded at all you've taken in. Definately prepare to be on the go!

I have always arranged my own travel, booked all the hotels, drove a rented car, carried my own luggage. Also I haveI always done extensive pre-trip research as to what to see and do. Road Scholar lifts much of this burden and allows me to be "in the moment" and to absorb the educational value of world travel without the hassles.

Tours of Portugal and Spain was a wonderful immersion into the Iberian culture and history. The trip guide made it personally meaningful for each participant. The local experts at each site were great. The food and accommodations were luxurious. I can’t say enough good things about this program, just go and experience it!

This trip is a delightful and enlightening exploration of the southern Iberian peninsula, looking back at millennia of history and also at the rich and diverse present. The variety and pace of this trip made it always interesting. And the accommodations, transportation and culinary experiences added tremendously to our experience.
