I had high expectations for this trip which were exceeded. Iceland has been discovered by the tourist industry and rightly so which makes for some crowded tourist venues. It is a breathtakingly beautiful place offering waterfalls, geysers, volcanos, icebergs and interesting flora and fauna. Much time is taken on this tour to explain the history, geography and geology of this small nation. There is a great deal to learn and Road Scholar did a great job with helping us get the best possible understanding of the Icelandic people. Going by ship is the best way to experience Iceland since most of the 360,000 inhabitants live along the coast. The weather was perfect making for a memorable trip.

This was a great trip for scenery and birding. We were unlucky in that the weather did not cooperate -- too much rain and cold, down to 2 deg C one morning. So be prepared for any weather.

Highly recommend this program! Iceland is a fascinating country and this program provides an opportunity to explore a lot of it.

Fire and Ice was all I hoped it would be and more. Our guide, Inga, was excellent and took the trip to the next level. Iceland was stunning, interesting, and truly a memorable experience.

This program is the best all-around introduction to Iceland possible! A little bit of all aspects were included. Volcanoes, glaciers, whales - all of it! Harpa was an amazing leader, always present and approachable, while being very knowledgeable and fun.

A unique country and program.

A great outdoor program that has a lot of variety. A very friendly country to visit.

I highly recommend this program as a way to experience first-hand the varied, geology, geography, climate, and culture of Iceland.

Iceland presents with stark and rugged beauty. The Road Scholar Icelandic tour was a delight because of experienced Icelandic group leaders and the fascinating sites that we visited, which were chosen to give both breadth and depth to the geography, culture and history of Iceland. I recommend this tour without reservation for those who can do some minimum walking and hiking (about 2 miles a day) and who are open learning about a unique place on this planet.

This trip was one of the most enjoyable trips I've taken. Everyday was an exciting new adventure. Be sure to bring warm and waterproof clothing, as there is usually a very strong wind and often rain as well. As our group leader told us, "There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes."

This program is an excellent overview of Iceland. There were places we went that I would like to revisit in more depth in the future. The pace was good (and I don't exercise a lot).

An extremely though introduction to Iceland and all it has to offer.
