This is an excellent photography program in a beautiful location. Our B & B was very comfortable and in a lovely setting. The Lake Erie islands provide an amazing variety of photographic possibilities. Our photography subjects included lighthouses, wild flowers, owls, butterflies, barns, churches, beaches, landscapes, sunrises, and sunsets. Our two instructors, Nina and Tim, are both professional photographers and also excellent teachers. In the field, they were always available to answer questions and to give pointers about the best ways to film in the particular location. During our instructional time each day, they used Power Point presentations to discuss the type of photography that we would be doing that day. During their lectures, Nina and Tim did touch on post-processing and the editing tools that are available. However, editing was not the emphasis of the program. I did discover the wonders of HDR photography, and Nina guided me through my first attempts with this amazing tool. The group leaders and coordinator, all residents of the island, are knowledgeable, welcoming, and always helpful. The program is accurately described as “Active” because we did walk for up to a mile on uneven trails and needed to climb steep stairs in a couple of locations. However, on the island we could drive our own car to locations but could also use the golf carts that were provided by the program or even call a prepaid taxi to drive us to our location. As on all RS trips, our fellow participants were a friendly, welcoming group who were always willing to share their own expertise when we had questions. This program is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a very well planned photography program in a perfect location. Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to discuss our experience with the program.
