We thought the trip was excellent. Our guide, Bob, was knowledgeable and organized. His public speaking is a bit choppy, but we could tell he knew a lot and loved this part of our country and so we let that part slide.. The food was only so-so. We didn't realize we would be with 150 people - thought we were signing up for what we always heard about - the 25 or so in a group. We will be more careful next time. All the presenters were top notch...Loved ALL of them. We learned so much from them and they kept us entertained. We definitely will go on another Road Scholar trip in the future. We tried filling out the survey but 3 pages in it timed out...very frustrating. Submitted by Debbie Richter but both agree. drichter0209@gmail...please include her in all email that Robert Receives. at this address. Sincerely, Bob and Debbie Richter

This was our first Road Scholar trip but will certainly not be our last. Every detail was tended to throughout the week. Hotel was comfortable, clean and welcoming. Our room was not ready upon arrival and they comped us an appetizer in the bar while we waited. Food throughout was good, and plentiful. Hotel food for large groups is notoriously "not great". However I thought they did a commendable job with good food in the buffets and nice variety for breakfast each day. Our guide- Karen- was great. Very knowledgeable of the area, chatty and friendly.I enjoyed her personal recommendations of speakers, stores and the area. Overall, this "bucket list" trip was first class. Memories to last a lifetime (hiking Crazy Horse!) and a week later we are still feeling the "glow" of a wonderful vacation adventure.

The adventure was challenging and comprehensive in its scope. Especially enjoyable were the Black Hills and the Badlands. We had a real Native American Pow Wow at our hotel and got to see the dances and the dress first hand. Your discover mammoth diggings that are thousands of years old, and prairie dogs that are white. The pride of South Dakota and their unique history really showed.

I just completed my first trip with Road Scholar, which was "American Get Together Mount Rushmore. I am blown away by the organization of this trip. They made all the arrangements, from the flights to the Hotel accommodation to the food and all tours. I had a great experience, seen and learned more than I ever hoped. I definitely will recommend them and will use Road Scholar again for future trips

Great educational program. South Dakota is a hidden gem, has a lot to offer in terms of western history and native American issues. However, a great American get together not the way to go. Group of 150 divided into 4 smaller groups, but during large group events it was chaotic and disorganized. I will avoid any more Get togethers. PS. Food consistently awful. I

The Great American Get-Together #21769 to the Badlands, Mount Rushmore and the 51st Annual Buffalo Round-Up was just awesome. South Dakota is a beautiful state and the people of the state were very friendly.

This was an excellent opportunity to experience & learn about all that is unique about the mid-West, life on a prairie, and history, as well as current scientific studies.

Who knew there were such interesting stories and beautiful sights/sites in SD other than Mt Rushmore and its fame? Not me! The area was unknown to me and I was thrilled to see its beauty.

The program was packed with interesting activities and guest speakers. Since everything was prepaid, everything seemed free when we were there. Thank you for being very careful in providing me with gluten free meals. Our fellow scholars were very interesting and friendly.

Each day of our South Dakota trip was an exciting, educational, awe-inspiring adventure! We were like "kids in a candy store" in anticipation of what each day would bring, and every day was above and beyond our expectations! Thank you, Road Scholar!

Bob Drabek did an outstanding job sharing his vast knowledge of his state. It was a great trip to the Rapid City area.

This is an outstanding programme. The volksmarch was the highlight of the programme for me, providing excellent exercise, and a wonderful view from the top. We did have perfect weather for the trip, especially the Volksmarch, which was extremely fortunate. I recommend this trip to anyone who enjoys hiking.

South Dakota was one of only two states I had not visited. I have done many Road Scholar trips so I was sure this would be the best way for me to see the state. The program met my expectations in every way.
