This trip exceeded my expectations, by far. I thought Mt. Rushmore would be the icing on the cake, but everywhere else we visited was just as meaningful. I am a fan of Great American Get-Togethers now. Penny Island is a fantastic tour guide!

I like the "On Your Feet" programs and it would be nice to see them all in one place. Keep the pace is too much for me.

Wonderful trip. So much to see and such a variety of attractions. The accommodations were wonderful and the tour guide was exceptional. Enjoyed it thoroughly.

This program was excellent! Not only did I see and experience various cultural, scientific and historic sites, but also I was able to meet interesting and friendly people with similar as well as varied interests. It was a marvelous experience.

Rapid city trip(mt Rushmore). Was a delightful change for us,Mid western couple and we loved the wide open spaces

As a first time traveler with RS I was a little nervous. However this was the best vacation I have taken. My desire to know and learn was satisfied. Our guide was fantastic. Penny Island is extremely knowledgeable about the area. She's a natural storyteller and has tons of information to share. Penny and our driver, Christopher made our travel from town to town effortless. The daily planning was just enough to learn without overload. Penny would say, "Until we eat again". Meals were plentiful and the food was tasty. The content was outstanding! The Black Hills. WOW! We even had a mini Powwow! The opportunity to meet Lakota, hear them speak, dance and share dreams for their people was amazing. I felt honored. There were so many places and experiences. I've only touched on a few. I would recommend an RS program to anyone. Thank you RS and staff for a wonderful time.

After unpacking once in Rapid City, you will head out daily to visit the Mammoth Site, an ongoing paleontology dig, or the Sanford Lab, where neutrinos are studied underground, or attend the annual buffalo roundup, or the Volksmarch to Crazy Horse, or the Badlands and of course, Mount Rushmore and even more. The only downside is the Get Together format with well over 100 attendees, broken down into smaller groups for programs. The large group leads to some disorganization and way too many buffet meals. The personal touch found in smaller Road Scholar groups and the opportunity to get to know fellow travelers is less evident than usual. In sum, it is a wonderful program that sacrifices some of the personal touch Road Scholar is known for. You will have to decide if the lack of the personal touch is important to you.

This Road Scholar tour was more of an adventure into the history of the western US than just Mount Rushmore which was a childhood dream of mine to go and see!

This trip provided a new adventure every single day. I truly enjoyed learning about a part of our country I had never before seen but had always hoped to visit.

This is a program that is once in a lifetime - not to be missed!

I will VERBALLY tell my friends about the trip.
